I really like the destroy ending, but fr, it was too soft imho. Imagine where the relays are completely gone, and by breaking the cycle, you only truly escape it by essentially starting right from scratch. Many more die in galactic collapse, and it seems grim, but that is cosmic horror for you. You do not truly 'win', only survive it. ME4 would be an interesting kettle of fish if it was set in a post apocalyptic galaxy just barely getting itself together and coming out of what is essentially centuries of a dark age where we must now fogure out how to operate a galactic civilisation with no basis to work on, but truly free to shape it as you see fit
Honestly, the reactions are way too subdued. I would have fallen to my knees and had a seizure while sobbing if I saw the existential threat collapse before me.
I chose this ending at first, but then I found out that people are immortal in synthesis. Imagine an overpacked galaxy with beings that’ll never die. I also said hell to the no about the geth and EDI getting wiped out in destroy. So I chose control.
Sucks for Edi and Geth, who I fought for. But honestly the Reapers needed to die. They caused so much conflict, ended so much civilizations. Based on bad logic surrounding the possibility of war between synthetics and creators.
I lost so many in my first play through but in a way it felt real like this is war and war of the whole universe it wouldn’t make sense for everybody to survive or most. It hurt but hey you lose people in life
Control ending is dumb because you can't guarantee Shepard won't end up another Harbinger. Synthesis is bad because you just did the Reapers job for them, which makes the entire journey pointless. Destroy is the best because you'll always pick organic life over synthetic life. The ending should've been either the Normandy picking up Shepard and firing into the crucible with the thanix cannon, or not making Javik DLC and having him be the one to sacrifice himself to destroy the Reapers. It's just stupid that Shepard can fire a pistol into the crucible to activate the pod, and we have a ship that literally has guns attached to it that can do the same.
I tried all three but I felt that this one was the most appropriate. Yes, you lose a lot in the process (the relays, the Geth, and other technology), but you finally wipe out the reapers. The reapers destroyed so much life for thousands and thousands of years. This was payback for what they did.
Of course, there was no other choice and naturally I took it. Because who wouldn't sacrifice themselves to end the Eternal War between Organics and Synthetics. To honor Legions sacrifice. And most importantly, to save their crew...their Family? ALL of them. I'd give everything to save them, and I did. Didn't even have to think of it.
Destroy - Synthetics die we create new synthetics and the cycle begins anew one day Control - Shepard dies and becomes the one who mediates between synthetics and organics as new organic based synthetic Synthesize - Organics die and the galaxy is now filled with synthetics who will never let any evolving organics stay that way
From my understanding of the endings…no matter which one you pick…there will be a constant cycle of life and death, of peace and war. With the synthetic ending it promises a much longer peace before the war, and who says the galaxy can’t just do what the prothians did and leave behind knowledge and understanding when that war happens and concludes. Life will find a way as people say, even if it isn’t completely human. Plus the way I saw it synthetics were similar to organic life in the morality of good and bad, ultimately it’s the choices we make that define us. But I’d like to point out what some people say about this ending: “Oh but what if we just have a hive mind at that point” That is possible but there was no evidence that showed it would happen for a long time at the very least especially in the cutscene, and they could teach the younger generations that it wouldn’t be the best idea to do that, and in the cutscene the crew clearly still had their personality or ego. “What about that near immortality thing?” Fair enough I could see how immortality could make people possibly insane with all that time, but they could negate that by setting themselves up with a kind of artificial expiration date that they could all agree on in the future. That would also help with overpopulation of not just the galaxy but the universe. “But didn’t the big bad in the first game also want to do this?” Kind of but he expects how it would go or how this would help people survive but it would be similar to if you chose the control ending kind of and that this cycle won’t end. Also his arguments were a bit shoddy at best for why he thought it was a good idea. Overall it is the best option long term even if things don’t work out in the end, but I’d love to hear people’s opinions.
ME4 is confirmed to have the synthesis ending as canon. I will laugh at those who are fans of the other endings. This ending fixes the entire issue with the differences that exist, not only with the Reapers, but among the different races and ethnicities in the galaxy, and it also respects the will of Legion and EDI.

Immortal. the man i was used these words, but only now do i truly understand them and only now i understand the full extent of his sacrifice, through his death, i was created, though my birth his thought... EDI: *got in Reaper System because EDI Sorta reaper tech* Shepard their you are? are you kay? *dusts you off* i needed to make sure you were alright Shepard: EDI!? what how?! EDI: reaper tech. Shepard: ._. duh i can make robot body.

This ending only leaves it for someone else to create the same cycle to happen! It only puts a band aid on the problem.. Rips EDI from joker. And also kills millions Synthesis fixes it everything with peace..
7:36 This still frame is why Control isn't the terrifying Reaper standoff many think it is. With a cooperative Shepard revealing the Reapers' technological secrets to the galaxy, the galaxy has a chance to become much more powerful than the Protheans ever were, carrying with them the lessons and mistakes learned in the first Reaper war. The galaxy has a real chance, even if just for a while, to catch up with and surpass Shepard's Reapers, even if they have a change of heart some time down the line.
