I've done everything you say to do til the end for (all important) network name from on my phone where does it come from I can not seem to find it network name where does it come directly? thanks
My only source of internet at home is my one phone, which also means that I don't have WiFi. Does connecting Google Chromecast to my TV, with a compatible connection to my phone require WiFi 🤷🏻?
Instructions great to follow. Was getting ready to jump up and down! Nope, connection problem during set up. Check your wifi network settings. Then noticed password had a 0 not an O! Tried again excited! Nope, just like the rest of life is going - like crazy. I don't know what to do. New Chromecast, good phone and TV. Really bumming bout this.
Update 1 day later. It appears the share app is using network name DIRECT. The previous owner till recently had Direct as her network provider. Could this be why I am not completing the process? This has given me a headache stressing why others are successful and not me. Please help!

I downloaded the app. Read where it wants to work with another phone. AGAIN there is no 1 phone ( data connection ) to TV SOLUTION FOUND ANYWHERE ON THE NET.
So are you doing this without any kind of home internet? So that app is the source if your wifi? I'm trying to understand before I waste money on a Chromecast. Thanks
He's using wifi tethering from his phone, the app he got just enables this capability, making his phone a mobile hotspot, or essentially his phone becomes a router without wires. This capability, mobile hotspot, is a service you must pay for from whomever your phone service is from, a lot of plans include it. You need to check if yours includes it. All these RU-vid videos about this matter are titled incorrectly so they will get views. They are very misleading
Plz update the chromecast device and also the google home app and try for errors. From time to time, google updates the chromecast device, and then it becomes a hit and trial method to get it connected
That's what I was wondering. I just got a chromecast today and this method did not work. The results said, third party something; may require a password, like you would find in a dorm room or hotel. Oh that's right it does require a password. I totally firgot. Thanks for your help.
@@BADALICE Did this process end up working for you? I'm trying to figure out if he definitely did this without any home wifi. I guess that app was the source of his wifi? I see so many misleading video's, so it's hard to believe. I don't want to waste money on Chromecast if it doesn't work.
@@kamisa7362 lol. I bought a chromecast, it's just collecting dust. It was easier to buy a phone with smart view. I got the samsung A50. I don't need my roku or chromecast. Save yourself the trouble. Where I live I have to pay business rate for internet, and 3 yrs contract. PS I forgot to mention I'm using a samsung tv, also with smart view. I am casting directly to the tv. The roku has smart view, screen mirror, I have tried casting to the roku and no success. It requires all devices be on the same network with internet connection, same as the chromecast. If your phone does not have screen mirror or smart view, just forget it. If your phone does not have smart view buy the roku, at least you can use the hot spot on your phone to watch tv. I love the roku it works great. You can go about 3 or 4 days on 8 gigs of data. You can stretch it out if you fast forward and skip ads. Pause when you leave the room. I got unlimited data now.
If you have a smart tv you don't need chromecast; cast directly to the tv. You got to have a smart phone before you try anything. Your phone must have "smart view, mirror screen, or screen cast." If your phone does not have one of these, nothing will help you except roku on hot spot.
