Instead of waiting for an answer that will never arrive, I have looked at your website and made my own deductions about who you are and who you are most likely to work for. As you spend half your time in Wales and half in England, would it not be fair to abrogate your responsibility for the wood and leave it to someone who does not want to go there and try out their new camera and the go and shoot for money elsewhere in Birchwood Parks?
Who are you? Do you own the place or something? What are your thoughts on the office vs. green-space conflict and the loss of a portion of the surrounding woodland area to the A574? Who is responsible for keeping the area free of domestic pets and the up keep of the flora and fauna? vis a vie bullrushes and oxygenators?
Well how are you getting on so far Brian? I see the north eastern side of the wood has been decimated by road construction and public access by way of the footpath from that direction...terminated. Similarly on the other side you have a coffee house and what is beginning to amount to a load of crass neon signs such as can be read by traffic using the A574 lovely! And then that footpath into the wood is also now concreted and blocked off. What can induce me not to feel little sick about your "rejuvination plans for "Oakwood Gate" and live in the memory of a place of tranquility that had full pedestrian access and not some persons left over piece of jet trash running ground no longer required I should think.
This is great. I live just down the road in Oakwood. I stumbled across this place walking past at the weekend. I was in a rush so didn't go insude on that occasion. Will definitely be back there with my camera this weekend. Thanks for the video and the info on your website. Really interesting. 📷👍😊
Thanks, and glad you found the website too. When it was first created the Walled Garden was a bright open area, but over the years it gradually became overgrown. There have been various plans to improve it, but nothing mich has happened yet. It was originally a reservoir for the fire hydrant ring main for the old munitions factory.
Brian T , you are wrong here sorry. The reservoir was to hold water, the working fluid for a steam driven heating system throughout the plant and nearby dwellings. For the source of this heat, is unclear, but there is some say of a nuclear reactor being onsite in the early 1940's. The fire hydrant idea might have been a deception so keep up the good work Cpt. Mannering!!!

warrington deserved the title. the only team who are that exciting to watch, and dont just play 5 drives then a kick. ifs its a few hundred pound for season tkt to watch wigan, bulls etc, warrington should charge a grand.

The Walled Garden is currently overgrown and certainly needs some work to get the full benefit from the space. It is also of historical value to Birchwood and I believe that all of the historical features should be retained, as plans are drawn up to rejuvenate the whole of the Oakwood Gate woodland park area.
Hi Vicki, our experience was completely different. The atmosphere was fantastic and the crowds were massive, far bigger than the club had been expecting. It was great to welcome them home with the cup. The only dampener was the rain - it started pouring down as the bus turned into the Town Hall grounds. Even then, the crowds were huge as we listened to the speeches and cheered them into the Town Hall. Hope you enjoyed the clips on the vid, and check out my photos too :)
This year's event was even busier than last year. No air display because the helicopter was out on a rescue, but the crowds were massive. I will be posting a new vid of this year soon :)
