Telecoms sent my family to Sarasota 5 decades ago & and I've watched this highly addicted area drastically change since Billionaire Developers swooped in. Please let them know they seem to only want international Multimillionaires to move to Sarasota now. Most the boys my sons grew up with are all dead or long gone now. The weather in Sarasota is beautiful, but I no longer know any humans here now. I'm a retired Psych Nurse/Foster Mom/USVet who is now homeless but I'm blessed to still have a son who I can rent a room from in Sarasota.
If people want to live in a state that is still US Property, I can no longer guarantee Sarasota IS THAT. I pointed out many months ago that US Flags are no longer flying on the flagpole in front of Sarasota State of Florida Offices I go to monthly on 17th St., I get no response from tagging Senator Rick Scott, Senator Marco Rubio, Rep Vern Buchanan or Governor DeSantis about why our US Flags are gone in Sarasota. Workers at front desk suggest I ask "THE BUILDING OWNERS". I haven't done the research yet to investigate who owns Gov Buildings in Sarasota yet tho. It appears they are attempting to start war with USVets here, from my peculiar view. It's odd, whatever it is. People who like different flags seem to be at war here. I'm a Massage Therapist here, so I try to stay put of the gunfire.
Over 40+ years here it has only gotten worse with developers in bed with red mad hatters. Education is being assaulted every day. Visit and know that you have no buying power under $300,000+ income to buy a small house. Research is in your best interest.
You don't need gated communities to be safe and traffic out the ass doesn't make living there bearable. Too many people crash and get hit by cars here.

Avoid Lakewood Ranch it's a con directed at northerners and retirees with money . Homes are cheap traffic is insane and it's all run by ignorant Rednecks . Step outside of your gated community and it's nothing but gun shops, strip clubs and massage parlors. Sleazy place.

Love your videos Matt, we're still waiting on the sidelines . Iterest rates are important, But we are waiting on the prices of the property to come down. You guys love to talk about interest rates, Oh you can always refinance ! But you're still overpaying on a property that is hundreds of thousands over priced. We will wait for the overpriced homes to come back to earth from their fake equity. We will see you when the home prices, and the interest rates both drop ! Looking forward to seeing you soon.
The Rocket May 2024 Sarasota report shows that 78% of the homes sold under the asking price. It also shows that average prices are down from the $490K peak of October 2022 to $450K today.
Good informative video Matt. When comparing to Redfin, is there a mix impact? So your MLS data indicates North Port is flat to up in median. Sarasota is flat to up in median. But if there are more and cheaper properties coming up for sale in North Port, that could skew the entire NP / Sarasota / Manatee median down even though individually they look OK. Just a thought.
I think we all need to take into consideration that the closer to the beach the higher the insurance premium. That alone will add big bucks to the home especially in year 2 of occupancy. Great video.

Hi, Don't do it. I moved here in November and I'm on the market already. It's a con. A town board member actually told me they believe they are entitled to "Yankee money" . Only after you move in they hit you with the fees in the thousands. Traffic is insane and crime is rampant .
