🇬🇧Years ago at North Weald in Essex we had a reverse pulley system , after lunching in a reasonable wind we could let the cable back out again. To still be attached to the cable at 4,000 feet was not unusual let alone good value for the cost of a winch launch ❤🇬🇧
I was a member of a glider club in Sekiyado...One of my greatest experiences and memories of Japan.. Later went to Hawaii for intensive glider training. Even did a few car launches which were scary...
Is this vest that you are wearing one of those that has ice water circulating through it? If not, then maybe you should take it off when it is that hot.
These are made in the UK, where we don't really need it! It is an option though: "Air conditioning: S-53 Cabin air conditioning system (+£3,124.00)" You're right it's an 8.2L GM V8 engine, so it's easy to do.
Nice video. Love a winch lauch as the acceleration and rate of climb is fun. I notice you don't have "take up slack" commands. How do you take out the slack in the cable as you launch?
Nice flying! I have one special question: What units do glider instruments in japan use? Is it metric (altitude in m, variometer in m/s and IAS in km/h)? We have this for gliders in germany, while all other VFR planes use the american units. Greetings from a glider pilot from germany.
John Gilmer I think this winch is made by Skylaunch Ltd in Shropshire ENGLAND The company has an internet site that includes a lot of details about the wide range of quality winch products they produce.
