I spent my whole life thinking I was going to be young forever. Me and my friends from high school spent all of our time together, we were like five fingers in one hand. I studied with them, traveled with them, we spent so many sleepless nights together playing video games, telling ourselves that our life would be an eternal river without a hitch. Today I am 27 years old, I realize that I had never held time in my hands, it has slipped through my fingers and with it the friends I have spent my whole life loving. Now I'm alone, I feel the loneliness weighing on my shoulders and my mind with each passing day and I feel like I'm imprisoned in this past that I constantly remember, telling myself that it's only real in my memories...
Brother, it's an illusion. I'm 34 and love of my life of 12 years hanged herself on our anniversary - me and our two little kids found her. You want to give up now? You want me to give up now? Reframe and go forward, you will make it through the loneliness and find happiness. Past is past and has no bearing on the future.
This world tells people to have high expectations and always be happy it's not realistic. It's okay to not be okay. And if you're lonely then find some volunteer groups in your local area and get to know people. Also being alone vs being lonely two different things maybe learn to be your own best friend first.
