I have little patient for veterans of the 70/80s in Northern Ireland, in the main they done more damage than good with their approach at the time and tell war stories like it was the Tet Offensive. I served three tours in N.I (Bessbrook Mill and Cross) in the late 90s and very early 2000s. I know very well what it is like dealing with PO situations at G40 and Cross. I am speaking from experience with A further 5 tours in Afghan (Henrick 8, 13, 18 & Torral 2 and 12), you are mad if you think we knew who our enemy was over there. It was almost impossible to identify and the whole country hated you in Helmand not just certain estates. In N.I you knew which ones where catholic or Protestant. Other than Drumcree on the bridge the prod’s left us alone for the rest of the year

I was once in Belfast during 'the troubles' on an oil tanker which we were not allowed to leave. The ship was surrounded by military personnel in rubber speed boats. Almost as exciting as spending time in Nigeria where the army would send armed soldiers demanding our passports.

Every D-Day anniversary, there are thousands brought into the area by enthusiasts from France, Holland, Belgium and the UK..You can't move for them, including trucks, tanks, etc..Everywhere you go, you continually drive into convoys going uo and down the coast..
Very famous too, as this was where the main part of the Mulberry Harbour came ashore on Gold Beach.. Bringing in troops and supplies, and establishing a beach head..👍

Yeah there's a true story behind this, as that was the exact amount of British soldiers 1,456 dead on D-Day..Therfore, each silhouette represents a fallen serviceman..It's an amazing sight to see and very moving too..
