Jim Walker the drummer used to teach me drums 34 years ago, i remember watching the Brothers at the Preservation Hall every Thursday. He had a stunning looking girl friend called Clair😍
Got to be Robbie of "Planet Wheels" (Wholesale) If it is he's the man who introduced the VIZ comic to Britain! He found the mag at my shop in Gateshead "Brainstorm book shop" & took it to "Titan Distributors" London who printed them from then on! Also took the Kitchenware band "Hurrah" to Scotland on a small tour (I was their drummer at the time!) If hes alive & kicking tell him Hello from Mark
Hey man, i found a Ronnie taits record some time ago an i fell in love with the mans music, do you have any idea where i could find the rootsie tootsie bands albums or Rootsie duos albums? This song was really good!
This is great. When we toured in Scotland (we are from Holland) in 1988 we saw Frank play at Pres Hall. We just arrived and i was introduced to Frank by Adam. . Before the show he asked if i could play his guitar so that he could listen to the sound of his setup. I hardly couldn't play because his action was so low the strings where almost down at the fretboard. But i did anyway, cause i liked his playing and thought the guitar looked great! He thanked me and he did a brilliant show that evening (october 1988). So today i find this video which is, again, brilliant! I think its the same guitar...lol. He made his own guitars didn't he?
Yes, this is a great wee video, bringing back all those memories of Preservation Hall. I also understand that Frank made (makes still? i wonder) guitars. I think that he and Pete still meet; Pete is living in the Algarve, Portugal.
Great to have the three horn section players identified; many thanks for that. I think that leaves only the keyboard player un-named? Anyone know if it could have been Brian Kellock? He eas around then, and sometimes played with Tam White and the Dexters at Preservation Hall, if I recall correctly? Anyone help with this? Pete?
Doug (Bass player replying) Keyboard player was Greg ?surname - he played and toured with the Proclaimers live band around the time this was recorded, great player and a lovely dude
I was fortunate in visiting this museum long before it opened. I met Don who had acquired the Compton and it was in the finishing stages of installation. I was able to play it and remember the occasion well and all credit to Don's determination and hard work that the museum has opened and filled with wonderful exhibits.
+beaufighter245 : Hi, I have to say it was many years ago when we visited the museum. We enjoyed looking around the exhibits, but can only imagine how much more fun it would be to play the instruments. [Not that I can play! That would be even better.] :-)
Wow~!wonderful! Great! Amazing!...Commet. please....Passing Notes Approach by Bass Line...Custom or Thumb Over(Jimi Hendrix..or..John Mayer.)?ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6qmi1vdJphA.html What do you think about this?
+김덕성 Sorry, but not me playing. Not sure what techniques are being used by Andrew Stirling the bass player. Perhaps you could Google and find him via the 'Safehouse Blues Band' website?
Everyone is batty about this old ratty. This train is loved and cared for by a team of volunteers. There is so much passion about this line and its continued use. It was expensive but as an all day event, it became cost effective. I travelled with my dog to the end of the line. We then walked the circular walk to the church, the waterfall and then to the one shop along the estuary. It was a lovely day out. We took some great photos.

Lindsy Reay Must be him. I've pinged off your messages to him, though i have to say that social media is not his strongest suit, and we'll see for sure. But i'm pretty certain now.
Woah, just found your comment, Duncan. Yes, spot on; its Charlie of Charlie and the Sheepdogs, as you remember well from the Darnley days. I got her recent CD not that long ago (Charlie Davidson - 'Blow me away' album, recorded 2011 at Houndsman Studios); it's a very classy piece of work, excellent blues / rock. Includes 'Well well well', and there's 11 others. Well worth it. Cheers, maybe see you down at Bannermans for your annual visit later this year??
+emma craig Hi, I see Charlie every once in a while when she comes up to Embra to see the Rab Howat Band at Bannermans in the Cowgate; Saturday afternoons 4pm to 6pm or thereby. I mentioned your note, and she has plenty of CDs so could send you a copy. Charlie is on Facebook so you could look her up there maybe, so you could make a connection. Don't know whether this link will work, but worth a try? facebook.com/charlie.davidson.12576?fref=hovercard Cheers, John W.
lovely sounding bells in this chime. While Taylor's had made carillons (23 or more bells), this one has 13...a chime, played from a traditional chimestand.
Good God.... I remember this as if it was yesterday. I played with Free 'n' Easy at weekends and regularly went to see Pete and the Brothers. Frank Usher...arguably the best guitarist around. Thank you John. Mike
took a minute to recognise gary martin, last time I saw him was in the early 90s when he used to do a bit with stevie hay. was always a good moothie player
