For some bizarre reason all the sketchy, mentally-atypical male characters have floppy Shoegaze hair in this period. It's weird and it doesn't really work given that the indie subculture of the '90s wasn't malevolent, just a bunch of awkward neo-hippie students. I would sooner avoid someone with a tragic yob haircut like Tony's (his hair got so much better a year on, when he came out and learned the art of tousling with gel).
