Check out this spreadsheet below. Specifically, look at the Month and Category tab. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Onm9rSnTVBtbJ5kBLGVZLF92Fj_2QFbzpyHsZ8uU7XI/copy
Well done!! Very easy to follow and instructions were clear... thank you for sharing. Can you help me expand on this timesheet? 1) I have multiple clients I often work hours for on the same day - I need to be able to insert additional lines with the same dates. I added a column 'Client' for which I can create a dropdown box. 2) I need the summary sheet to total time by Client - by Week - by Month - How would I take the sheet so that it calculates hours weekly, but with an open run for all the days in the month? thanks for your help
Hi Ryan, thank you for such a great video! Unfortunately the formula =DATE(C3,MATCH...) doesn't work in my excel. Do you have any solution for that? Thank you very much in advance!
Where are you located? If you reside in a country that uses a comma as the decimal separator for numbers rather than a period, then your Excel formula syntax may use semi-colons instead of commas as the argument separator. So try using semi-colons instead of commas. That might be the issue.
You did not miss a step. It was actually a mistake I made in the video. I forgot to consider the scenario where the saved amount exceeds the goal amount. To solve this problem, change the formula for the remaining numbers to the following. =IF(goalAmount<savedAmount, 0, goalAmount-savedAmount) So in cell E4 on the categories worksheet, the formula would look like this. =IF(C4<D4, 0, C4-D4)
Thank you! Nice tutorial and very good use of powerful Google sheet. If a Google add-on, such as Comfort Attendance, is set up which allows user to check/uncheck the box easily, it will be the greatest!
Thank you for letting me know. I have updated the link in the description, and you should now be able to download the file here. spreadsheetlife.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Filter-Data-by-Month.xlsx
That sounds like an awesome idea. Could you send me an email at info@spreadsheetlife.com with some more details so I have a better idea of what to build?
Thanks so much for the feedback! Super glad you enjoyed the tutorial, but I'm sorry about the music. As I learn on my content creation journey, I think keeping the music contained to the Intro and Outro is the way to go for videos like this. So I will do better in the future! 😊👍
Thanks so much for valuable information, i make my sheet last year 2023 but now in 2024 if choose march 2024 it filter data of march 2023 , how i can fix it ?
Check out this spreadsheet. It shows you how to filter by both Year and Month. I hope this helps. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Onm9rSnTVBtbJ5kBLGVZLF92Fj_2QFbzpyHsZ8uU7XI/copy
@@spreadsheetlife - It worked sir. Thank You so much for this video it help me finish my very important task. Pls share any videos related vlookup and xlookup.
Instructions were clear and concise! Quick question for you... if i wanted to use add info to the dates how would I go about doing that around the formulas? For instance, i want to add a dropdown with names of people im scheduling... how would I do that?
Thanks for the feedback! 😄 That's a great question. You might check out these videos below. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bwcughyS5PQ.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CBWy5MxbNO0.html I hope these help.
hey thank you for this post, i have a followup question, this is only for adding values, are there any functions to subtract, average, divide, multiply filtered data? edit: nevermind, just realized the first argument is the function code to determine what the formula will do
This method should work the same way regardless of how the dates are displayed. 😊👍 Dates are always just stored as numbers in Google Sheets. It's only the number formatting that makes them appear differently.
Hi, great help so far. Although....still missing a piece. What if you want to filter on a different kind of data? In mine example it is about "Names" for example from products or teams. What one should I use? I tried different ways, but dont get it working.
To filter by a specific value such as a name, check out the spreadsheet below. spreadsheetlife.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Filter-Function-Example.xlsx And if you want to find a partial match, for example, filter by values that contain something, then checkout this video below. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bfM-79K1Ii4.htmlsi=ilQPxy4H3XJYwd2m
Thank you sooooooooooooooo much for this great video, please next video if you can add that how we can make the event frequent monthly or Quarterly of Semi annual.
You're very welcome. Since I've already made four calendar videos (two for Excel and two for Google Sheets), I probably won't make another one for a while. But if I do, I'll be sure to include recurring tasks as you have described. I'm sorry it may be a while though.
A good idea might be to write them down on a sticky note that you keep next to your computer. And then practice a bit, and it will stick in your memory in no time. After all, practice makes perfect. You've got this! 😄👍
For something like this, a pivot table is probably unnecessary since you we are just performing a simple lookup. However, I will do my best to include pivot tables in future videos so you can get some good practice in. 😊👍
Unfortunately, it will not work this way. Anything returned by the FILTER function can only be viewed but not edited or deleted. All changes must be made to the source data itself. I'm sorry that's the case.
I'm always amazed about the knowledge of some people with that excel tool xD It is not about the pure formula skills but also how to methodically build up such a template. Great job.
This is probably because you are working in an older version of Excel. Unfortunately, the FILTER function is only available in the Office 365 Version of Excel.
update: I was just being dumb and actually just needed more data points to make this happen. this is my first time really making something on excel and I am SO proud of myself
Awesome. I'm so glad you figured it out! And you should be SUPER proud of yourself. This is not a simple build. So the fact that you made it through this build is absolutely amazing!! Awesome job! 🎉🎉😄👍
Yes. One way you can do this is by applying a conditional formatting rule to the calendar cells where you set format cells if to "Text That Contains." I hope this helps.
i have a question. if i will put my schedules there by the month of july and i have another schedules in next month. so in b2 is july with my schedules and if i want to change the month in b2 into august then why does my schedules in july is still the same in august. how to fix these. thankyou
Hello Ryan, Thank you so much for do this organised calendar, I am struggling with the formula first one Text saying Left then =Date(C3 as etc I am unable to get that to work, what should they left bar say in formula form? When I do = and given formula it gives me error saying I need to put ' at the front, that doesn't work either...? Are maybe able to do the formula so I can copy it into my sheet...? Thanks a million for doing this for us amateurs
Hi there! I'm super glad you've enjoyed the video, but I'm sorry that you're struggling with the formula. To make it easier for me to help, send me an email at info@spreadsheetlife.com. Attach your file, and remind me what you're struggling with in the email.
I just wanted to express my deep gratitude for the extraordinary assistance you provided. Your valuable insights have truly opened my eyes to a fresh perspective, and the individual behind the RU-vid channel is a remarkably humble person. I never anticipated receiving such overwhelming support from you. Your kindness and generosity are truly remarkable. Please continue to inspire others with your outstanding work. 👩🏻💻
You just made my day. Thank you so much for your kind and heartfelt words. They mean so much to me and really encourage me to keep going and give it my all to create the best content I can. 😊
Hi there! I'm glad you enjoy my videos and have learned from them. I'm not sure how long it will be, but I am planning to make a Google Sheets version of this video in the near future.
@@spreadsheetlife Hi I wanna thank about your channel it's very helpful for me, i just wanna ask you if you can upload a video of how to make tracking files in excel (such as tracking: the task, the attendance, and so on)
Hi there! I'm thrilled to hear that you find my channel so helpful! 😊 For your question, could you be a little more specific about what kind of tracker you would like me to create? I am a little confused about your request.
@@spreadsheetlife ok let me explain it in more details.. I'm a team leader for a group and i wanna make something in excel that makes me up to date about their attendance, the time they attended the meeting whether they came in time or not , the tasks I gave them and so on and i want all this by points for example if they attended in time i gave them 2 points bonus ....I hope that i explained it in a good way ..and sorry about any mistakes in grammar or vocabulary, english isn't my first language
No need to be sorry at all. Your English is great! 😊👍 Thank you for the explanation. This sounds like a really interesting idea. It's also pretty specific. If you're open to the idea, I also do custom spreadsheet work outside of my RU-vid channel. A request like this falls more into that category rather than me making a video on it. You can send me a request at this link: spreadsheetlife.com/custom-development/ And we can figure out the details for the spreadsheet and go from there.
What's the formula at 14:49 if you want to consider excuses, and sick the same as absent so that the percentage will be lower when you track it? (For example: 1 present, 1 sick, 1 excuse, 1 absent, you will only get 25% of the percentage rather than 75%)
I ended up not using the last function where the colored days correlate with the sparkline %, instead I made the bars match the color of the assignees. :) ty for tutorial
I do have a way you can color code specific types of events, but it is a little tedious. Send me an email at info@spreadsheetlife.com, and I can show you how to do it.
