I will no longer buy Mastercraft battery power tools. My first tool died not long after I finished a project. Then it sat for a while, and when I needed it I wanted to buy a battery because I believed it was because of my negligence. So I bought a battery and it did not work well tried charging it a few times still did not work. Then I decided to buy another set with multiple tools used the tools for awhile and then started having problems with them. Now they are just occupying space until I find an adapter or rebuild the battery or chuck them in the garbage
The current mastercraft maximum wrenches are the exact same as the older snap on wrenches. I can't attest to the steel quality but i can without a doubt say mastercrafts current wrenches are the same wrench that snap in sold pre flank drive plus. I have a metric set in both and side by side they are the exact same wrench. The snapnon wrench set i have my dad bought new in 1980. But its the exact same in every dimension according my digital caliper.
Any issues with the top drawer slides? The KRA is only rated for 120 lbs. Just ordered one and got an ok deal. Kind of worried about that low weight rating though. I wonder if its possible(or even compatible) to upgrade to Krl722 slides since both are 24 inch but the KRLs are for 270 lbs.
Haha, I have just got one like that at 5:22 but should be older than that because it has upper case letters on the handle and the Canadian Tire logo on the switch. Havent found too much info about it.
There handtools are pretty good.Stay away from anything battery powered. There designs change and batteries seem to become obsolete. And,there battery stuff is junk.
Can’t think of a time I worked on a vehicle and I didn’t use a master craft IMO when the job is done and you’re back on the road. Does it matter if it’s snap on or matco??? As long as the tool is being used how it’s supposed to be used. It should work.
Had 1 of these for years. Absolutely loved it. The different hanging, and ability for custom shelving arrangements in the bottom was amazing.. a piece of sheet metal and 4 bolts will give ya another shelf under the drawers
I've noticed the main difference between the rigid and other pipe wrenches that I've used, is that the rigid jaws doesn't have as much slop as the others. Which means that it has better gripping power. Had a buddy using a Pittsburg and it just couldn't get a good grip, but the rigid didn't let me down.
People only understand when they've used a SO ratchet, crap mechanisms will drive you crazy. Having bought 20 odd ratchets before snap on I should have saved my money and bought snap on in the first place. People think it's expensive but constantly replacing your tools is far more expensive in the long run.
Mastercraft is very good now. They are what snap on was 30 years ago. Canadian tire has taken over from Sears for tools in Canada with an ever growing selection. I have a lot of snap on but, I supplement with mastercraft. I use the offset box end wrenches for suspension work and I just cannot justify paying the snapon price when mastercraft has taken a beating and keep going. I suspect Canadian tire buying group is getting the tools from the same factory in Taiwan that gear wrench or grey pneumatic are.
I have found the overall quality of Mastercraft tools has declined…the maximum line seems a bit better. Only buy them on sale. Tool cart prices have skyrocketed over the last year. The Maximum 5 drawer cart was a good deal at 299..now they are 450 on sale.
That's a great box for a lot of DIY novices. My question is, how sturdy is it. It seems like all the rolling chests at the big box stores are incredibly flimsy.....even if they come with a Lifetime warranty.
I love my streamlight stingers and stylus pro. I started with a stylus pro that I picked up well before I became an apprentice and a original red stinger that my father had gotten off a Mac truck then later I bought a LED stinger because I didn't know I could still get batteries for the old stinger so when the battery in it worked in the old one I bought another battery to keep it running. On top of the streamlights I also use a few different milwaukee lights but they don't get the same constant daily use like the streamlights.
Anyone notice in the comments about when it’s “on sale”. How ironic... I won’t by anything mastercraft or CT for that matter. The flyer is the reason for it. They send this flyer out with discounts of 20-80% off. This thoroughly exposes the amount of profit they are making off the backs of Canadians that are paying full price off sale! I throw the flyer right in the trash whenever I get one. These sales are supposed to make people excited and happy? Opposite for me! Try getting parts for a mastercraft power tool too. I boos near new table saw off a guy a few years ago cheap at a yard sale. 2 months later needed a part, called the CT store and was basically told “can’t help ya” no way , I don’t set foot in CT
I buy mastercraft/maximum because I've had my socket set for 27 years. I've broken 2 sockets, both my fault, walk into a Canadian Tire, walk straight to the tools, and the guy swaps you for a new one. They are very good quality IMO. Most of my tools are Mastercraft because they stand behind the product, always a CT near-by, and they go on sale cheaper than cheap tools.
@@DiaperSNiFFER yes. If it says mastercraft on the side, or their pro brand maximum, you take your decades old part with no receipt to the tool area, and usually the paint guy is the tool guy, and he best matches a replacement. For example, I had some adjustable pliers a few years old and the mechanism broke. It was a design flaw, they didn't have the new version same size in stock they they gave me the next size up. Which was a deal because when I bought them I wanted the next size up but they were out if stock lol
after of few years, you really have all of the tools. When I open those flyers, I'm like i got this, i got that. But sometimes they pop out some nice tools like those maximum snap ring pliers, bought those full price because i needed them, but they are well made, better than the regular mastercraft that are so floppy. the only tool i found cheap are those gearwrench mastercraft wrenches, my 8mm now spins freely.
I had bought a second set to do that but I usually just make up a grab bag of common tools for the car and go that way. My dad had an old Rabbit turbo diesel and that thing used to eat CV axles all the time so I got used to rebuilding those during cross county road trips so having a tool kit I've learned has kept me from getting stranded.
