When you use a wildcard (*.example.com), the SSL certificate will cover all subdomains at that level, such as sub1.example.com, sub2.example.com, etc. If you only want the SSL certificate to cover a specific subdomain, like sub1.example.com, you can apply for the SSL certificate using that specific subdomain name. For example: Wildcard SSL Certificate: *.example.com covers sub1.example.com, sub2.example.com, etc. Single Domain SSL Certificate: sub1.example.com only covers sub1.example.com. For example: If your subdomain is blog.example.com, you would use blog in place of sub1. If your subdomain is shop.example.com, you would use shop in place of sub1. So, if you are securing blog.example.com, you would specify the following in the SSL certificate application: Domain Name: blog.example.com
