Thank you for your post. On the day of the event, I heard from friends of the church (LDS) who work there. The national anthem, the Star-Spangled Banner, and the U.S. State Flag were solemn and wonderful. Kennedy, then ambassador to Japan at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo, attended the ceremony where the son of a friend of the Air Force officer was awarded an Eagle Scout at the church, and the beautifully arranged star flag and the national anthem were excellent. My close church friend was the former commander of Okinawa Camp Schwab Base. Other than that, they were Air Force officers, Air Force chiefs of the Mutual Defense Assistance Office, retired Army colonel who was a director-general of the 500MI Tokyo Foreign Affairs Office, and re-employment of the Pentagon. The general of Camp Zama is a member of the church. It is said that Kanto has a heat wave once every 10 years, but please be careful not to get heatstroke. I will go again next month.
