Office of the City Clerk, City of Los Angeles The City Clerk serves as the Clerk of the City Council and maintains a record of all Council proceedings; maintains the official City records and archives; administers all City elections; provides fiscal, administrative and personnel services to the Council and Mayor, and provides staff assistance to Council Committees. This office promotes and facilitates programs in support of the Mayor and the City Council's economic development initiatives. To that end and by mandate, the City Clerk administers the City of Los Angeles ' Business Improvement Districts program. The City Clerk also provides records retention management services for all City departments, and administers and manages the City's Archives. I’m here because Queen Elizabeth II has died and I started reminiscing and suddenly remembered that I was actually in the same room as the Queen once. So because RU-vid has video of everything that has ever happened in the world I did a search of “Queen Elizabeth in Los Angeles “ and voila - one of my life experiences played out before me. I was a junior administrative analyst in the CAO’s office and most of us went to the council chambers when we heard that the Queen was going to speak. Of course, I was waaaay in the back but I did behold her with my own eyes and when I saw her my first thought was that she reminded me of my mother when she’s dressed for church. I loved the sound of her voice and thought she gave a really nice speech about Los Angeles. Sleep well, dear Queen.
