Very good idea! I was about to pay over $60 on Amazon and I think your design will probably be stronger. I think that I need a longer plate with the holes though
I built this at home a while back. It works great. The thick bar is good because it makes you only use your fingers. And not the thumb. Increasing grip strength and proper form.
Tilted bar and you might be overstressing the old pillar. Just saying you might want to recheck positioning, people walking above and you doing workout might be enough for disaster.
Where can I buy fence post at 8ft. Long for cheap!?? And where to buy extensions connectors to maje a stand alone 8ft. Long pullup bar? Like as big as a gymnast pole.
To make a stand alone bar you'd have to make metal (which means welding) or wooden triangular stands and then fix your bar on them. You probably need to get someone good at welding or carpentry to help you , and do not expect it to be super cheap. If you just want a bar longer than in this video, check the pluming dept. in home depot. They have a variety sizes of metal pipes, and you can choose the right size for you
Drill pilot holes. I am not a structural engineer. I am concerned that the dynamic load of doing pull-ups will weaken the mounting brackets because bolts are not secured by nuts.
I decided to spend a little more money and made a welded adjustable bar with handles for doing abs and dips, but not as practical as this one though, and a lot more expensive to make :-P tks for posting;-)
