OK, Just wanted to add a small comment here. Your C4 LT1 looks like it has Bilstein shocks on it, they are yellow, the adjustable shocks were black. So it looks like that car had been modified to delete the F45 suspension, so, you would not have felt any difference in the ride by switching the ride control switch. Otherwise, I am right up there with you on the Zee verses Zed.
Hey Jeff, saw this a while ago and just wanted to say thanks for the inspration. I ended up going out and buying my own Gen 1 Continental Gt and even started the world's only dedicated channel on running and fixing my own Bentley. I've had to learn a ton of stuff like filming, editing and how to use You Tube along the way but it's been so much fun and I'm getting great support from so many other owners. Just watching this I can see how far your skills have come, and how far mine need to go before I can feel happy with what I churn out but like you, I hope to always keep it fun. Thanks Jeff :)
Car did offer a cup holder. It was a unit that was located inside the center console. Many were removed and lost or broken to make room to use the center console storage. I ordered one from eBay...was delicate and used most of the storage space. Don't forget the hidden storage drawer under the passenger set too. Drives like a Japanese Mercedes...heavy, but solid and very roadworthy.
Our neighbor (when I was a kid, Ohio- in the 60s) had a couple of these & I never knew what they were until probably more than 15 years later!!! I thought they were some kind of "family size" VW back then, but eventually realized it wasn't. Many years later I recalled seeing 'Volvo' on it and there it was. I've ALWAYS wanted to drive one... but have been in Wyoming since 1969...have never seen one out here! Looks like a nice, low center of gravity & fairly wide wheel base - good for cornering? 😊
Love the enthusiasm! I feel the exact same way about the ZR1. It was a monster for its day, and is still one of my favorites.👍🏼 Almost forgot..liked(loved) and SUBSCRIBED! 😎
If I could only pick one of those and stick with it as my sports car for life, then I would choose C6 for the newer styling, and that the inside feels unique and sporty, unlike the others. Plus that big ole Honkin’ 6.0 has tons of potential. If I had to pick right now though, assuming I’m gonna go through multiple sports cars in my life, then I go with C4 ZR1 in a heartbeat, because if it’s unique place in history and there’s just something exotic feeling about a C4 with 400 horsepower. I mean that is extremely serious for the early 90’s, more powerful and faster than the Ferrari Testarossa at the time. (And I say this as a former 2007 C6 Vette owner with 6 speed manual)
Still driving my stock '95 LT1 as a daily 8 months of the year... ...in ten years its had rear wheel bearings ($60), and a fuel pump($90)... ...tho it'll likely need an optispark either this summer or next (a couple hundred, and a saturday in the garage)... ..its like drivin' a quick lazyboy chair...
Im thinking of geting one of these but tjen i saw a 2009 bmw m5 v10 and i said that is also my favorite vehicle but i know the bmw is surely unreliable
I've watched hundreds of Corvette reviews and just when I think RU-vid is out of suggestions for me this GEM of a video pops up. I have been trying to find a comparison like this for a while. Very well done, and from the perspective that interests me the most -- the Enthustiast. I wish the C6 car was manual but you didn't let that bother you or drag down the review. We can still infer the experience even when comparing it to the other cars. Excellent and unique video here.
It was my first car in 73 High School... it was my parent's car and was given to me when I got my license... it was the family car ... and I beat the hell out of that motor and it never quit .. it had dual factory carbs... I also installed an 8track player in the glove compartment and 2 round 2way speakers on the back deck under the window with was perfectly angled for speakers
I bought a red ‘65 544 as a student in 1969, and put about 30 000 miles on it in the next 3 years until rust finally claimed it (the vault wasn’t rust proof in salty Nova Scotia 😅). It’s the car I’ve had the strongest emotional connection to - just a joy to drive on the two lane blacktop that was more common them. But it also did road trips, from Halifax NS (where they were assembled btw) to northern Quebec and south to Boston - it had the legs to be a strong and reliable long distance cruiser. The overall basic quality and finish of the car was always evident, and the sound of a tough four cylinder motor has been an ear worm ever since.
Agreed. After fixing up 3 half beat SVXs in succession I'm now the grinning 2nd caretaker of a pristine one owner 1997 Laguna Blue w 87000 km. Pure joy in style and engineering. Dave
Out of those, I’d choose the Z06. Because I have a 1990 ZR1. And I’ve owned 3 C6’s! Never had a C5. And my ZR1, while it has 52K miles, hasn’t really held up well over 30+ years. It squeaks and rattles and feels like it is 1 or 2 power shifts away from exploding! lol. O don’t abuse it all because it feels fragile. Although of the 3, the C6 is the best all around car IMO. Performance of the C5 Z06 with a removable roof, modern amenities like Nav etc.
