what size belt do you have on the saw? I have a Homelite xl-98 and the only belt that seems to fit is a gates 6391. its only 1/4" by 32 1/2"! I see online some people say homelite part 46068 and some say part 64498 both seem to be 3/8" belts. Last time i tried a 3/8" belt on it, the belt would not clear the guard around the pulley. Thank you for your input. The purpose of this video is to show people a lesser expensive solution to finding obsolete parts. We are not knocking the original lawn boy ignition system that has proven itself for decades.
I'd like to know that too. I have one of these Lawn-Boy mowers from about 1972. Still runs great, but getting hard to start due to worn points. I'd love to convert it to electronic ignition.
Good video... Need to work on leveling out the audio though. Music blasts so I turn it down... Then I can't hear what you're saying when you start talking again. Glad people are still working on and using these great old machines!
