I have been watching Johnny over the internet for many years and it's about time this guy is getting the notice he deserves. He is best I've ever heard. .
I just started looking into these, wanted to double check a few things. So it sounds like if you have some always on pedals, you don’t need to put them into a loop. I hadn’t thought about that, that could be an option. At first, I was thinking, I’ll put my five or six always on pedals in one loop. Which I guess, is maybe kind of the same thing. And like he mentioned here, probably even better to leave them out of the loop. I just wanna make sure I’m keeping my nice signal chain in the right order. That’s what I’ve been thinking about. With an analog unit like this, I guess you have to be really strategic like with a pedalboard. Make sure you have chorus and reverb at the end, stuff like that. But I also like to have my phaser and flanger in front of my gain stage. So I’m not entirely sure yet how I can still have them come before the gain stage, which could be left out of the loops as mentioned. On that note, I’m trying to think if the pedals that are left out of the loops (always on pedals), how they tie into the signal chain. I don’t know if there is a final output for the switcher. I’d imagine like a multi effects unit, there’s an output to go straight to the amp, or an output to go to the pedals left on the board. Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks.
Just recieved the UK version today...letting it acclimatize to room temp b4 I use it with my Friedman Runt 20 Combo and my Fender Blues Deluxe...yummy analogue goodness, slurp!
Your Brown Box is starting at 120v set on the 3% reduction, well 3% from 120 is 116.4v not 112v. Your actually seeing a 6% drop not 3%. The % reduction will be different for each voltage that you select but it should still be close when you do the math.
I haven't read the comments below, but obviously this is where Rob learned hybrid picking, or at least the value in it as I am sure he had heard of it before, but alas, his interest and Johnny showing him brought a whole new level to his playing it appears. I could be wrong, but it sure seemed this way at least! That dude can play like no tomorrow!
This guy is an enigma. I have never heard him play one sour note. He plays so naturally and smoothly. I was never near his level of playing, and then in 2018 I was diagnosed with MS. I had a treatment in Moscow in 2020 to stop the progression of the disease. Since then I have not gotten worse, in fact a bit better - I can still walk albeit with a cane or walker. If I keep exercising my legs I might even get much better. But I still have stiffness in my hands which has fucked up my guitar playing, even simple stuff. So when I hear Mr. Hiland play guitar I feel like quitting guitar forever and never look back. Too painful. Before the MS, I was starting to play some jazz chord melody standards. I was going to work on increasing the speed of my phrasing. But that's a pipe dream now. I have a Ibanez Artist Super Edition AR 300 1986 made in Japan, Violin Finish. It's a beautiful instrument - a work of art and it sounds incredible too. It plays like butter, super straight neck, perfect intonation and she stays in tune. It's a pity that all I can do is think about how nice it would've been to play it at least the way I did before the stiff hands. This instrument appreciates in value every month it seems. The highest retail $$ I've seen it on the internet for recently is $3,400.00 In then years it will be worth $10,000.00 easy. But for me it's about playing, not the money.
