Yes I can say this was my experience, gangs and coke/ crack, I see this in various London venues and robbing I got a few pals that imo ruined their lives thru coke/crack and some of them even went on to smoke the brown to get to sleep and died thru the brown addiction RIP
The scene changed everywhere, gangs were there blantant taxing outside and being stitched up with shit pills inside and outside I started seeing groups of people that intimidated party goers and openly pushed gear I’m not sure of the year as it was a blur tbh lol but I wanna say 92/93
People forget how fit raving kept us as well. Compared to today we were all stream line and athletic as opposed to all being walking footballs. The time of our lives for sure and how I wish for a time machine.
We travelled the same path been clean off the Whites now for 12 yrs. I used to also work for Stu & Baz, me n my mate T used to do the flyering all over the country for the Eclipse best club ever what I time to be alive
This country really needs a return to this kind of unity because It's ugly and fractured in 2024. There was vey little racism and political crap going on when we were all on this train. It's almost impossible to put into words how special this scene was but they do a damned good job here.
I worked at BPM Records in Derby early 90s and we sold so many tape packs from Eclipse. Its interesting to hear Sasha getting stick for being a bit of a maverick. His tapes were always decent tunes, Even his mixing was sketchy at times but it was early days I guess ????its One place I missed out on going to
Every Friday night, first stop The Hummingbird in Birmingham then on for the main event at The Eclipse in Coventry. Man this documentary is really putting a smile on my face.
Goosebumps from this but I used to go Hacienda too but the eclipse was fantastic was up there most weekends met sum great people at that club plus the drugs at the time was top notch to boot, brought back sum good memories for me normally a 3 day binge Thurs, Fri, Sat then cum down on the Sunday in the pub all day, Coventry got a special place in my heart though coz I used to be a Rude Boy so lower Ford Street is etched into my soul, respect 2u all 👊🏿👊🏿
From mid 80’s to mid 90’s, best 10 years or so of my life. From the early days of mental adventures in convoys of cars looking for “the place” to the more organised events that pulled out all the stops for a bangin event. I’d do it all again in a heartbeat.
Nice, used to knock about with Jeffs2 younger brothers Reggie P and T- Wrex, man got about 8 of us into JJ’s one night after a House of Pain gig at Wolverhampton Town Hall, House of Pain were shit but getting on the list at JJ’s was bangin’. Oh and by the way……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. “Get mental in the house”………….😃
Used to love going to the “Vine Street Community Centre” in Hillfields Coventry early to mid 80’s for a sound clash, Black Crusader Sound versus King Alloy, always a great night and never any aggro.
Used to go to Eclipse loads a times, lived about 20 minutes up the road. Shelley’s, JJ’s , Milwaukees a place in Leicester I can’t for the life of me remember the name, those were the days.
A lot of people did come out of the scene when it ended a mess and bad mental health problems from all the drugs. A few of the people i used to know turn paranoid and still and still at home with their parents at 49 years old. It was good times but not for everyone at the end.
