Expert Chinese Medicine Practitioner
Founder of @thehayoumethod

My name is Katie Brindle and I’ve been working in Chinese medicine since 2002. Alongside practising massage and reflexology, I studied TCM and qualified as a Five Elements Chinese medical practitioner, graduating from the UK’s Integrated College of Chinese Medicine.

I’m now committed to increasing awareness of this ancient wisdom and encouraging people to master their own health. My aim is to make Chinese medicine achievable and accessible. And as habitual as brushing your teeth.

In practice, this means working online as much as I’m able, with live feeds and webinars to enable as many people as possible to access this priceless wisdom. I also work one to one with clients, offering both private consultations and day retreats where we unlock your issues and give you the tools to help you master your health.

Dear Katie, this was so good! I suffer from severe health anxiety and I’m always worried with any niggle that it’s cancer. I see my GP and he tells me that he’s not worried but I always think he might have missed something. It’s a trust thing. My sister died of breast cancer in 1994 and I think my health anxiety stems from that. Anything you might suggest to conquer health anxiety would be very welcome xxx

I think my mum felt this after five children. Unfortunately she was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s at 59 and died at 68. Please, anyone reading this, tell your mum that you love her (and your dad obviously) and still give them your attention even after you’ve left home as they need you more than ever xxx

Thank you for talking about the high rate of cesarean section in the UK. I’m really concerned about it. Apparently new Mums have a 70% chance of cesarean now. Once you have a cesarean you are unlikely to have a normal birth again. Time to ditch consultant led care and time to make it women centered instead.

Iranian/Persian stores tend to sell the best roses for tea/cooking. If you're in London they're all over the place like the end of High St. Kensington towards Olympia. I believe some have online stores where you can purchase, I think Ottolenghi used to sell them, Harrods, Selfridges and Fortnum & Mason also.

Walking around as the definition of ugly (to say the least) seeing privileged women of all ages with normal, healthy, developed, feminine breasts is unbearable to me. I can’t even imagine what it must be like to appear and feel like a real woman. The only indication (personal not public) that I’m a woman is the fact that I menstruate (heavily & painfully) each month. For what though? I’ve only this year been offered a gynaecology appointment and offered the option to temporarily stop periods which I’ll definitely be pursuing however I just feel like I’ve suffered needlessly for 17 years not just with the lack of breasts and painful periods but with the multitude of other medically neglected health barriers ie the painful,itchy, dry, unsightly, congested, stinging, widespread, stubborn, painful , chronic burden of Prurigo Nodularis. Everyone other female in my school the college then work and in general has developed breasts but me. I honestly long to know what it’s like to have breasts and to feel, be seen as and be able to dress femininely. If there anything I can do to fix this awful defect as an almost 30 year old woman who doesn’t have any advantages and isn’t currently in work nor education nor training of any kind?
@ip3931

Hi Katie, I’m a new subscriber and someone with a multitude of chronic health issues (with NO medical help whatsoever). I’m quite literally in the most hellish situation. Yesterday I travelled on a bus (non driver, unemployed and no one to offer me a lift) and once again became extremely unwell ie nausea, migraine and vomiting (I did take a plastic bag with me so as to not inconvenience others but of course it’d be better if I didn’t get sick every time I travel by public transport in addition to already being unwell). I’m almost 30 but still undeveloped (completely flat chest, no curves of any kind, masculine looking) yet still endure harrowing menstrual pains each month. The only conditions I am diagnosed with are Fibromyalgia, Prurigo Nodularis,and Anxiety. However I also have many non diagnosed conditions ie Congenital Anosmia . I am not and never will be sexually active, have not been in nor ever will be in a relationship, obviously, but just because I’ll never be a wife nor mother it doesn’t mean I don’t deserve great health as a not-so-young female. I still believe I have value as a human being. I’ve been suffering immensely since early teens and have never had a good or healthy day. I also still get horrifically bullied wherever I go (by kids and adults) and my appearance is frequently criticised no matter how I present myself ie fully dressed, hair straightened, full cover makeup. As someone who is not being listened to nor taken seriously by GPs or other professionals, can you advise on how I can better advocate for myself or find an advocate? As the estranged, unsuccessful, full ethnic minority daughter of a widowed, one eyed mother and deceased, elderly father, I can’t say I understand the purpose of all of this suffering. Suicide would seem like the obvious option but sadly I’m still incapable of acting upon this. I don’t have any family nor friends nor partner so it’s not like I have any one to ask for any kind of help and when I’ve tried to ask for support through various platforms including local, national and global organisations but no one seems to understand or care. I’m feeling so low at this point that today I’ve stopped eating, drinking, going outside, applying for job vacancies, emailing people, trying. It’s 1:23pm on yet another Sunday afternoon as a totally unemployed, completely failed, seriously marginalised and deeply traumatised adult woman and I can’t keep trying to improve a life that is never going to improve. PS the shaking thing made me laugh a little so thanks ☺
