Healthwatch Essex is an independent voice for the people of Essex. We’re here to understand the lived experience of people who use health and care services in the county and to make sure their voices are heard.
We have powers in law, as set out in the Health and Social Care Act 2012, to encourage people to share their views and lived experience with us.
We undertake research and engagement activities so that we can make evidence-based recommendations to the NHS and social care authorities to improve how services are designed and delivered.
We also provide an information service to help people access, understand and navigate the health and social care system. Anyone can call our confidential telephone information line, for the costs of a local call, on 0300 500 1895.

Interesting video, sadly my experiences of having a smear test are all focused around the first part of the video with a blase nurse stating that all women have to have this screening test, rushing through, dismissing my fears. There is also the lottery of not knowing if I will have to lay on one of those humiliating couches with stirrups or be wedged against a wall on a narrow couch. No wonder I opted out of cervical screening.
An informative video , my nurses bed is set against a wall..so I always struggled being comfortable, also lack of sheets..just given a piece of paper to cover which makes you feel exposed
😂😂😂that is such rubbish and I know that because I went to that school and both of my brothers moved out of it because they didn’t teach them and they even stopped them from doing their sats because they were autistic and the school didn’t want their average marks to drop 😂😂

great stuff! I'm researching into sarcopenia and found this video. I want to raise awareness of ways to combat sarcopenia and get people of all ages building muscle, it is NEVER too late! :)
As a health care professional I think we should all strive to make our care PRICELESS ... Personalised Respectful Individualised Compassionate Effective Legal Equal Skilled Safe
This reflects my experience of mental health provision both good and bad. I'm very grateful for the people in this video expressing their experience since it takes courage to do so. This gives service users a voice and gives professionals the opportunity to see things from our perspective. I hope that by giving us a voice improvements may be made in an often failing mental health service and that future service users will not have to go through the struggles I have experienced just to acquire something near adequate treatment for acute mental health disorders. Thank you Healthwatch Essex and all those who participated in this video. H
