What is the one fly you are referring to?

This seems like shrinkflation in the fishing industry.

hand furling the line when landing the fish tends to break off tippet....if the arm goes high the head of the fish will stay up and therefore easier to net....I fish Tenkara and rarely net the fish by hand furling line....just my two cents

Tenkara will do what you need to do to catch fish. It is about feeling, not technical things. You will cast short. You will need to learn how to cast a short line with delicacy or a bit of power. You WILL need to wade or float to get close to the area you need to fish. You will need to learn how to fight fish on the Tenkara and how to land them - bring them hand. I teach Tenkara to kids 10 to 13 and teens and adults. The kids pick it up easiest. The adults tend to fight it and want Tenkara to be like regular fly fishing and casting. Opening your mind and heart to what Tenkara is, not what it isn't, (to very different concepts and feelings there) will help immensely with the transition.
