Exploring the British Isles, starting with the South of England and London. A mixture of travel vlogs, thrifting or as we call it charity shopping, sending postcards with vintage royal mail stamps, cheap holidays and as many sandy beaches as I can find.
Exploring the UK especially Cornwall, Devon and Somerset through cheap holidays at Haven, Butlins and Parkdean holiday parks. I'll be showing accommodation tours of caravans and chalets. Always searching for the best value holidays available.
While traveling I will be in search of traditional British food be it Fish and Chips, Cream tea with scones and jam, handmade fudge, Cornish pasties or roast dinners with Yorkshire puddings.
Yes, I both give and receive charity shop gifts. I have one friend in particular who finds the most amazing things, and, as you say, it's the thought that's put into finding that perfect item that counts. I reciprocate in his case, but I am a bit careful with some of my friends and family. I find people fall into 2 camps, those who rejoice in charity shop shopping and those who feel it's all a bit embarrassing or turn their noses up at second hand anything. So I don't buy in them for those. By mutual agreement, when my daughter goes away on holiday she scours the charity shops looking for anything related to Buddhism as I'm a follower and she almost always manages to find something interesting and it's given to me a a gift when she returns home. I always pick up packs of stamps for my junk journalling and also any interesting old postcards. I'm also addicted to reading any messages on the backs. I see they are still putting the same sayings on the postcards as in my childhood, 60+ years ago. Nice video and some useful tips for 'thrifting' on the IOW.
Suitcase 😁This is a really nice-looking caravan. I love the fireplace! Yeah I wouldn't be using that spare duvet! I really want to visit the Isle of Wight. Think I'll pop this on my list. Hopefully it will be in the January sales next year haha.
The Isle of Wight is a fab holiday location. Everyone seems super friendly, plus there are great beaches and tourist attractions. I got an sale email through in October so well worth getting on the mailing lists.
POSTCARDS! I buy everything I can second hand and we have had a handmade/homemade/2nd hand rule for gifting for the last 8+ years it makes shopping so much fun and so meaningful. Lovely video thank you 🌻new sub✨
Postcards. I definitely would have bought the stamps. That was a great find. I would have bought 5 or 6 but it would have been tempting to buy more. I can’t wait to see the donkeys! I also want to see the postcards 😁
I live in Florida. Love your videos. I collect angels. I was disappointed did not see any in your charity shops. I have some whimsy also. Do not have a hedgehog, but i do have a cupid and an angel. Have a great day.
The best video about ( 💩 ) currently available .... Agaddoo - doo - doo , I really need a POO ... Agaddoo - doo - doo , I'm off to have a POO .... ( actually true , after I have posted this ! ) ........... DAVE™🛑
Ah! These ones don't move so sometimes we call them static caravans. Although I occasionally see them on the back of a lorry traveling along the motorway.
I had those little ceramic animal figurines as a little girl. I still have them somewhere. I also think the HEDGEHOG is one of them. Mine were called whimsies ( spelling?) and the brand was Wade. I used to buy them with my pocket money ,1972-8 ish, so they can't have been expensive. I bought them from a local gift shop/ironmonger. They were very popular and I played with them endlessly. Funnily enough I worked in a zoo for 15 years as a grown up. Maybe they paved the way!
Lovely video and I really enjoyed accompanying you to Arundel. It's a long while since I was there but it's on my list now for a revisit this summer. Loved the painted rocks and the look around and happy to hear there are still lots of tea and coffee stops as that's essential for me. Lots and lots of books. I'm not much of a fiction reader, preferring style books which are good for flipping through and home decor ideas, biographies and real life mysteries, plus almost anything historical or about India. I did smile and felt very old about the 90s references in Mel's novel as at 76 the 90s is recent history!! It's a shame it took me this long to find this video (recent subscriber), but I'm glad I did find it eventually! You can't go wrong with your National Trust handbook and, if you haven't been already then a visit to Romsey is a must, to Mottisfont and its lovely gardens but also Romsey itself with its Abbey and a multitude of charity shops.
Thanks, Tinymouse, this should be a viral hit! The folks at the National Poo Museum are great fun and they were brilliant when exhibiting at local school science festivals and other events. The kids love it!
Hi i noticed you were using a 30p stamp, which i haven't seen before? and i can't see it on the royal mail website either? I haven’t send a postcard for a while and i need to send one to Russia so i would need 1 first and 2nd and a 30p stamp right ? which is annoying as i have lots of 20p stamps still :/ Can you get the 30p stamps from the post office ? as i can see all but the 30p stamps on the site
I'm not sure for Russia it depends which Zone it is, but there will be price guides on the royal mail website. I think you can send international economy £2.20 but I'm not sure. The 30p stamps I've been using are vintage maybe from when first class stamps or second class stamps were 30p. I'll try and send a proper reply when i have better signal 😊
It's really nice to visit some South coast locations as that's local to me, so you encourage me to try different towns for charity shops and sales. Each place seems to have its own flavour of items that turn up for sale so there's always the chance of finding just what you wanted/like. BTW, I love a Wade Whimsy. Enjoy your collection. As a child over 70 years ago, I collected those too!
Thank you. There are definitely some gems out there and I've got a lot more to discover and explore. The videos also encourage me not to go to different locations 😊
I also watch some US thrifters and their stores are huge, like supermarkets! A woman called Laura Cauldwell finds some amazing things, often valuable, in the Oregon area where she lives (but then again, she does know what she is looking for!) Have you seen the US thrifters who go to goodwill depots where donated items are wheeled through all thrown together in huge bins/skips and you just pay by the weight of the items you want? Like you, I also enjoy watching people thrift in other parts of the world like Italy. I just love a woman on RU-vid called Vintage Weekends who lives near Venice but travels all over.
Yes, Vintage Weekends is the lady I watch in Italy! I love how she looks for silk scarfs and her husband looks for vintage clocks. They are so lucky to live near Venice! I don't think I've seen Laura Cauldwells channel so I'll check her out but someone you might like is Kathleen illustrated 😊
I am on the west coast of Canada but I lived in England for more than 30 years and I do not remember going in a garden centre as massive as this one is. I would think the atmosphere is incredible around Christmas. Did it also have a cafe/restaurant? That is one thing I noticed when I moved to Canada, none of the garden centres have attached eating areas like the British ones do.
It is great arround Christmas and there are a few other I know of that are really special at Christmas. I'll do a video when were in December. Yes, this one has a fairly fancy cafe/restaurant. Most of them do, i sense a large part of their profits come frome tea and cake...... Maybe I'll help them with that next time 😊
I don't have a Smartphone and still buy the 27 exposure photos and then take back to the store for them to develop. Why I don't have a Smartphone- can't afford one.
Some of them are shockingly expensive. I miss film cameras but think I've groen so used to taking lots of photos (and video) it would take a long time to switch back. Then longer before i got shots that weren't blury, or missing peoples heads. Do they still put on the sticker to tell you when they think a photos bad?
