Hello! My name is Sarah and I am a wife and a stay-at-home, homeschooling mama from Maryland. I am blessed to be "mom" to 8 kiddos ranging in age from 16 down to 3. I'm so glad you decided to visit me here. Stick around for all things frugality, homesteading, homeschooling, and homemaking.

I have read the Tightwad Gazette and reviewed it many, many times, when I need new ideas for saving money. Yes, some of the examples Dacyczyn provides are dated, but the principles she promotes to others are timeless.

This is an amazing post! I think I commented about how is it you do so much, that you must have a neverending supply of energy! What you are saying is vital, and it lets people know we all have good days and not so good days and either way it's ok!! You give yourself permission to have a low key day, it's ok to rest , or go at a slower pace. Thank you for saying this, it's such an important aspect to being a wife, mother and woman! You are very insightful ❤

I've always chosen jam without sugar etc-only the fruit. I guess we just grew up without the sweetener. LOL. I love the sound of it being tart. I love tart. Will try this in the future because you make it look not scary. I always get scared to make new things and have to think it out for quite a while until I feel brave to try. Silly I know. Thanks for showing.

We are empty nesters, and don’t drink milk or eat cereal. We only use it for cooking, so powdered milk makes a lot of sense for us. Making a cup or two from powdered is a lot cheaper than a whole half gallon. I have a been a big follower of Amy’s for years and years. Individual tips may not be applicable anymore, but the principles are timeless.

Is salt good for blood stains? Begin by thoroughly soaking the blood-stained item in cold water with a small amount of salt added. This helps break down the proteins in the blood, making the stain easier to lift.

My favorite bathroom was a tiny one in our newlywed basement home. We rented the 2 bedroom basement of a house. The bathroom was 4x6 or 4x8 ish or less, floor to ceiling terracotta tile, the shower had a small lip to keep the water in (also terracotta tile) so you didn’t even need a curtain. You could wash your hands while sitting on the toilet it was so small. It had a drain in the floor so all you had to do was spray it with cleaner & hose down!! ❤ My next favorite is a separated shower & toilet wall with a sink as you enter. Teeny tiny ❤

There are many of these shop with me frugally channels, and sadly too many of them focus on price first, nutritional value last. Most of what they buy is cheap, yes, but is basic processed food that offers little protein, vitamins, minerals, and practically no nutritional value whatsoever and nothing whatsoever fresh, like vegetables and fruits or fresh meat! You not only supply all of those things to your family, you incorporate vital and delicious things like wheat germ, protein bars, healthy snack options and fresh veggies and fruits!! You do an outstanding job! The quality foods you buy are typically expensive, but you do the legwork and research to provide your family with the best foods at an affordable price! Again...kudos! I love it!! You are frugal, but You clearly weigh in the nutritional value, healthiness of the food ,

@@sweetsimplicitymom That's very obvious! If your growing zone was not so dry of late, your garden would really bridge the gap ! When my husband and I had our children, we moved to the country in Pa from a suburb outside of Pittsburgh. We planted several huge organic vegetable gardens, 14 fruit trees, potatoes, garlic grapes, strawberries, you name it! We went to the auction and bought a cow, a pig, many chickens every season and fed them the best foods, had them slaughtered. We grew out own herbs. I learned how to can , dehydrate and freeze just about everything we grew! We had organic milk delivered weekly. Our children were very rarely sick! I attribute their diet and active lifestyle. They grew up eating fresh, healthy food. I was fortunate to be a stay at home Mom, my husband worked very hard , as did I to provide the best we could. That's why I know how hard you and he must work to provide for 8! We only had 3 , and we did not homeschool! We did live 14 miles from their school. They were first on the bus in the morning and last to be dropped off! It could be difficult at times, I can't imagine homeschooling 8, and having a social media presence! When do you sleep? Lol My husband and I are now in our mid 50's , kids all grown, we have grandkids,my husband retired last year , it's a new phase in our life, we've been married for 37 years! I have such wonderful memories of raising our family, you will too, but most of all your kids will! You are making memories , wonderful memories as a foundation for them!! Amazing!!!

I admire your tenacity, your resilience and resourcefulness!! You have made certain lifestyle choices that you not only make work, but share what you've learned with the world! You have a large family, you homeschool 8 children, I'm in awe! So many people make choices, but then look for others to solve any problems or issues that arise with those choices! I find that selfish and shortsighted! Kudos !!!

It's important to know that you mustn't put them in hot water. Put some cold water, stir with a stick, pour that water out, repeat several times(cold water each time) and than wash normally . Long time ago, women would have and old pot, put these in with some soap ( after soaking in cold water ) and let them simmer for an hour. Then wash and rinse and hang to dry:)))
