Yeah. That might be the case. What I did was remove the hood struts. That allow my son (Vinny) to hold the hold higher while I fix. Doesn’t work if you do by yourself. Thanks for sharing.
The rear wiper was a no cost option on the 996s some chose to get it some didn’t I personally like the no wiper look ended up deleting mine. Never really take it out when it rains so kinda had no function for me either
Hi Sony, I purchased recently a 1999 Porche Boxster and it cranks and almost starts but then doesn’t start and I don’t know what the issue could be. It never started before so I am not sure what the issue is. I was thinking it was the crankshaft sensor that I need to replace but when I checked the check engine it came out to the code P0341 which is the camshaft sensor. I am not sure what I should do and change. Let me know. Thanks!
I would recommend replacing both. They are inexpensive and will help eliminate some problems. Then continue to check to see what else is the culprit. While it seems stressful, think of it as a problem to solve. Once done, you have the rights to say “you brought a Porsche back to life”. That is a great honor. Do share what you find.

I also saw a video where they used a jack I believe on the driver side to shift the engine just enough removing a motor mount that it could be wiggled out. I feel like I turn one job into ten so I'll just do radiator today, that better not mean I'll never replace water pump... god only knows how bad a 2024 will be `-;
I have one of these and it does make a noticeable difference to throttle response, which is all it does. It does not add power or torque and makes no claim to. As the car is fitted with an electronic throttle, Porsche can control the speed at which the throttle opens and slow it down in order to meet emissions standards, which is what they did. This device (which is a bit of a pain to install) allows the throttle to open much much more quickly and so acceleration is noticeably better than stock. All well and good, but I have deactivated it for a while as I feel it may be responsible for the throttle fluctuating at idle making the car more prone to stalling. Work in progress, but once I remove it altogether I will know if it is the culprit. If it is not, despite the pain of putting it back on, I would do so in a heartbeat as it really wakes the car up.
Heyo! It's almost triggering, watching your videos, as I've been having a bear of an issue with my z3 overheating for the last 3 months. I think the last couple I watched might have helped me a lot though. ANYWAY, I'm here to say that, I too, wondered why the front aux fan doesn't turn on when the temp reaches a certain point, and I was given the answer. It's not supposed to. The front AUX fan only turns on when the AC is turned on. That's it. The aux fan is not needed in our car to keep the engine at a normal temperature. Aight, back to trying to fix MY problem.
Do you happen to have a video of how to remove that large intake tube that goes over top of the rad? I can't figure out how to remove it without breaking it
Hey! Did you ever find out what was causing the battery draw? I have a 2001 z3 with the same issue. Went through all of the same diagnostics and can't find what's using the electricity, but it's dying after 20 hours.
Ccn you tell me how and what did you splice? Did you do a mid splice to connect blue/black together ? Not sure what to spice as there still needs a connection to the car side. Thanks
This connector has two cable. Just tie them together. Tells the car you don’t have an issue (ie tray is in place). Stop the car from checking and just allow soft top to come down.
@@v.m.7228 no it will not short out. When the tray is down in the trunk, it connects the circuit. Sometimes the connector in my hand fails. So car does not realize that the circuit is complete. So you are forcing it.
Just watched your video Sonny. The only thing that matters is you’re happy with your 986. Too many people love to spoil people’s enjoyment. I have 2 x 986 and they are striped up to my own design but inspired by SINGER. They are real head turners and I love them. Magnus Walker says something on the lines of “ A PORSCHE is a blank canvas for the owner to create his own vision “ something like that anyway. I say to create your own masterpiece 😂. I don’t like anything original, I believe in putting your own stamp on everything you own especially your car. Why drive a car that looks like everyone else’s ? Your car is a project and your hobby. Keep it going and make your masterpiece. I bought a 40 year old 924 last year and I love it. I’m currently updating certain parts of it. I started work in the crash repair industry in 1984 as an apprentice panel beater, my 924 came off the production line the year before. I actually repaired a few 924s in the late 80s so this new car to my collection has more of a historical and sentimental meaning. It still smells inside like it did when it was new. That smell takes me back to a simpler time. Anyway sorry to ramble on. PORSCHE there is no substitute. Magnus says PORSCHE is his drug of choice, it’s mine too. Richard
I wish I knew this before limping my Z3 to the shop - where they told me I need a new engine (was taking it in for a clutch repair, it had JUST started overheating on me).
Fair enough. My thoughts are…as long as the batteries and motor are good, I can fix the rest. Looks like only front end damage. Replacement of bumper, pass quarter panel, and pass head light. I should have this running. Making a deal with the seller to have it dropped off and battery tested. Wish me luck.
@@thedayhayfilms don’t know much about x but the s is rock solid. If battery problem, car would look perfect. Not often a car in an accident would also have battery problem. But who knows. For the price, I am willing to play. If I can make 100 vids from it, I call that a gain. At least I will learn a lot more than I know now.
