Janice - I don’t remember any wallpaper under the stairs but I have quite a few photos of the house taken in about 1938 showing it standing practically alone. Just a case of trying to remember where the photos are.LOL I can remember the phone number which only had 4 numbers but if I can find the Denham prefix I will try to phone you. Tony
That is the house my father designed and built in 1938 & shows the bedroom I was born in in 1940. It cost my father £1500. He buried coins and papers of the day under the stairs which are probably still there. The garden extended to the middle road where a house now stands and which a doodle bug landed during the war. My father’s best friends were the actress Dinah Sheridan & husband Jimmy Hanley. Our Alsatian Jake is buried in the garden. We sold the house in 1947 for £4500. I will try & add photos taken of it in 1938.
