In my days as a music journalist in London in the 1970s it used to drive me nuts the way North Americans came over and spent almost as much time gabbing as singing. No-one is interested guys in whether this next song is off your latest album, or whether your guitarist has had a birthday, whether your dog has died, or indeed whether we want to know who is in your band. In this video they spend exactly half the video gabbing instead of singing. The country acts were often as bad. They wanted to convert you to Jesus. I used to want to shout: "No-one is interested in Jesus over here, just play the music!" If you want to know why punk happened in the UK it was precisely because the young generation got fed up with the pompousness and self-indulgence of the old.
So looking forward to seeing them in three weeks time in Birmingham as part of their 50th anniversary tour. So love Squeeze who are now a national treasure👍🏻
As a Toronto native, and Danforth native, I was about to purchase tickets then but had 3 days of work I needed to do unfortunately…. So at least I can watch it here, world class song and maybe I’ll see them one day, cheers🎉🌙🌔🌝
Well if I am ever wrongfully accused of something that occurred last night, it's good to know that this video will provide me with an alibi at 1:56. Thank you for capturing it, person to my right whoever you are :)
