Our mission is to teach people how to get great sounding recordings at the lowest possible cost. Times have changed, high quality gear has come down drastically in price, and the most important factor to getting good sound is the skills and knowledge of the audio engineer. We are offering an entire audio engineering course, and giving it away completely for free. Plus, you can sign up at our website to have access to the exercise files and mix practice, it's also completely free. We will be releasing tons of new videos and lessons, so make sure you subscribe to our channel.
excellent video. Very informative. High quality content here. I have always considered the Apollo as one of my options. I think I could get away with Audient!
Hi I'm buying an audio interface and my concerning is about latency as using mainly for singing. For what I understand I have very few interfaces that send the signal directly to the output. Alternatively I could send the input (voice) to a pre-amp and then into a mixer. I'm seeing the Beringer 204 but it is not AC powered. Two XLR are enough for me... What do you think of Steinberg UR 24C? Thanks for the video.
Surprised you would pick the Behringer over the SSL2 on a $200 budget considering the SSL 2 measures much better and has a better form factor and sound and Preamps.
Watching with the audio going through my UR22C right now lol. Bought it way back when I was in grade 11 and was just getting into recording, obviously I didn't do enough research. Throughout the years I did realize the noise issue but just fully blamed my untreated room and budget mics for it
Hi, I have a DAT Audio player/recorder with AES/EBU and SPDIF output and when I connect it to my Computer SPDIF input, it has a little noise. Any idea what's the best way to connect them and get the best result?
Regarding the last example, where you have a reverb unit and not a mic, if I want to use an FX pedal (say, the Hologram Electronics Chroma Console Multi-FX pedal) with a synth would I use an insert in an audio interface, or use a mixer (or a mixer conncected to an audio interface that doesn't have inserts) or something else?
Hey man, help me, I didn't find the Arturia MiniFuse on your list, I'm a little obsessed with the Arturia Mini Fuse 4, after watching this video I decided to buy the UMC204HD, but the hype around the Mini Fuse 4 is making my decision even more difficult, I would like to know if the noise it emits is like the UMC204hd of 6 or worse or even better, why did you not include it in your list of interfaces?, that is probably a sign, I hope you can tell me if this is one a good interface, or if its better than the UMC204hd, thank you man.
Thank you for a video on a variety of interfaces. You explained the pros an cons in very good detail. The audio interface was my biggest challenge on selection when setting up my home studio. My use is with multiple hardware synths to mixer to interface. That way I can adjust gain on each instrument before the audio interface helping my work flow and keeping the gain low on the interface to avoid clipping and just better audio.. I did settle on the $200.00 budget one with 4 inputs.
Thanks so much for making this video! Really showcases how much better the Audient id series is compared with other similar options available on the market. Ended up choosing the budget friendly id4 for my setup.
I have focusrite 2i2 audio interface, closed back headphones with Focusrite condesner mic. I have Yamaha MG06X and want connect it for recording, but unable do so. Thanks to share the demo as to how to connect both.
Very thorough comparison, thank you. But I’ve been having issues with my ssl2 - when I record a guitar, the signal just randomly drops and rises back in volume plus I get some scratching-like sounds. I’ve swapped out guitars, pedals and cables, seems like the issue is in the ssl itself. Anybody knows solution to that?
One of the best explanations I have seen on RU-vid; Question: I have a Presonus Studio 24C. Do I need a preamp like an ART Tube MP to make it sound better? Or is the interface preamplifier enough? Will these interfaces be well designed to use line input?
Excellent; I have a Behringer UMC 204HD and a Presonus Studio 24C. Do I need a preamp like an ART Tube MP to make it sound better? or is the Preamp interface enough? Will these interfaces be well designed to use line input?
Thank you man, sincerely thank you very much, this was the video I needed. I will definitely choose the UMC204HD, it is outstanding, thanks again. Just one thing, I was excited about the Arturia minifuse 4, what do you think of that one? It has 4 input and output channels, 2 headphone monitors, midi in out, usb, etc...
So did I make mistake buying Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 4th gen for my SM7B and overall music production? At least I was very happy noticing huge upgrade from my Scarlett 2i2 2nd gen EDIT: So with 200€ you get average product, well fuck... I could have pushed into 400€ but I was under impression that FS 2i2 4th gen is already good enough, at least it's being praised in reviews and I was already familiar with FS products
What interface under 1000$ and what setup would you recommend for a live vocalist going in the FOH mixer (which is actually on stage near him) ? I have 2 current setups: 1 - Steinberg UR242 with internal DSP settings (eq, compression, de-esser) outputting to the stage mixer the Direct monitoring with DSP processing on 2 - FOcusrite Scarlett 4i4 3rd gen with Reaper 7 on windows 11 pro, 24bit 96khz and 128samples, minimum round-trip latency 8ms, lowest latency possible before sound starts crackles and breaks apart, adding VST plugins native to REAPER like ReaEQ, reaComp, ReaGAte, js de-esser, FabFilter Pro-C2 compressor what interface offers the best quality integrated DSP for live sound or which is the best setup for running an interface through a DAW monitoring with VST plugins ? I have been looking at Apollo Twin X Duo for Windows + UA plugins, but that may be achieved with just DAW monitoring ? LAntency under 10ms round-trip is acceptable to me.
Great video. Covered things no one mentions. Of the three you recommended at the end are any of them class compliant for use with iPad ? I have a live performance issue where I must use the iPad and need to connect to it to utilise effects etc
If have a question, since I'm new to audio interfaces. Have you tried the Arturia minifuse 1 or 2 and comparing them against similar entry level audio interfaces?
Thank you for mentioning line level inputs. That is a crucial factor that is always overlooked by other people who do these comparisons I want to mention that the older mi audio m track plus had insert points where you could bypass the preamps, as well as digital in and out. $30-40 used compared to $400 for the audient
Wonderful tests, but I miss RME-Audio. They are low latency and very well supported for years. 10-15 year old interfaces just do their job as drivers are updated continuously.
Like this video brother Good job but I have the SSL 2 plus in the buttons line buttons high z buttons are kind of trash I like the sound that I get out of it true SSL quality sound for the first year 😎
