Hoping you could clarify this for me - I applied to Nativecamp and found a couple videos on actual lessons on youtube. It was honestly hard to watch because the teacher literally read from a script, and had the student repeat after them. This is not how I learned how to teach ESL and definitely don't agree with the methods. Was this your experience, or could you tailor your lesson plants to how you want? Thanks
Hello ! great video , I got hired a week ago , i have opened up some slots , but have gotten no bookings yet. I'm a native speaker. Do you have any tips on how to get booked? Thanks!
When I go to sign up for Native Camp it says that my password format is not correct. I made sure that my password had all the requirements. Is anyone having this issue? Thanks for your help .
Can you go to the bathroom or something between classes? Do you have to stay on camera? I want to apply for Native Camp but just want to know this before.
Hello, thanks for the great video. I have been accepted to Native Camp and am curious if you are still getting bookings? I have heard some comments that slots are not being filled. Thanks
Hi Sarahruth! Have a question with regards to 'reserved' classes. I am three weeks in and I understand you need to do more than a handful of sudden classes to build up a regular following. I now they promote you for the first week. Have you taught a lot of 'sudden' classes? How are your 'reserved' class bookings coming along? I know they pay is minimal but I enjoy the 'sudden' classes - have mostly gotten the 'free talk' lessons and have had minimal issues with the platform. Just curious how you are doing about a month into NC? TIA
Hi I love your videos. I thought about Native Camp and started the process. Something was just troubling me about them so I began to do some research. I found many groups on Facebook with posts written by native speakers of all ages- many have had really bad experiences. Here’s a sampling- One teacher posted screenshots of her email conversations with NC- she wasn’t being paid- there were no problems with her bank information- when she asked about why she wasn’t getting paid they deactivated her- sent her an email asking her to provide ( again) her passport. She did- another email came from them saying that they wanted her to change her nationality!! She is an American! Born and raised there- tall, white and blonde. This also happened to Americans of color! Asked to change their nationality because students didn’t feel they were “native enough” !! Read lots of comments about teachers not being paid, having to pay penalties for cancellation when it was the student who canceled… much more. My Japanese husband advised me to steer clear of the company.
The worst online ESL company ever! Run quick! $8-9/ booked class $3-4/ sudden class Not all new native speakers will be given the free tag for booked lessons. Some got it just for days or a week then after that NOTHING!!! The Refer-a-Friend a promo $100 is a HOAX!!! You will not get that at all!!! They got all the damn excuses in the world to DELAY your pay. But ….. Majority of the students are awesome! You can get “SUDDEN CLASS” 24/7 because they have unlimited free class promo right now. Lesson materials are not the best but easy to execute.
The comforting thing is they hire anyone native but will remove lazy fake people very quickly so once your proficient at it your only working alongside decent teachers.
Omg! I got an email congratulating me for being hired! Wow!!! I literally filled out my application about 30 minutes ago! Well here we go! Thanks again!!!
Sorry for the delay. They use our email as the referral information. I put it in the information for this video. Congrats on being hired! Pay is bi-monthly.
Hi Sarahruth! Great Video! My name is Jeff and I just got hired to teach at Native Camp. I have a question. I'm having issues signing on to my Native Camp account to complete my profile page. I tried to contact Native Camp about the issue through their "contact us" page and they replied in an "email" asking me to email them screenshots of my issue. Well, when I use their "contact us" page it does not let you attach screen shots or anything. I also tried to "reply" to their email they sent me asking for screenshots, but I get a reply that their email is "send only" and I cannot reply to it. Do you possibly have a "Support" or "Admin" email I can use to send them screenshots of my issue? Thank you so much for your assistance!!!
Hi, TYSM for your video! Super helpful! Was wondering a few things... - Did you teach classes w the background u have in this video? I keep hearing that they prefer a white, plain background but am wondering if they are real sticklers about it. - What is feedback after class like? Is there a formal place to put it after classes? - Have you received badges? Do we need to have them to teach? Thanks again for your video - super helpful! :)
I did, yes. My understanding is they want a white background for your static profile image. You can do that in Canva easily. They desire a professional background for in class.
I was hired MANY months ago but never opened slots because I read in the fine print of the contract that they keep a percentage of your salary for using their platform. I immediately sent them an email asking about this, and never heard a response. Please let us know how things go for you once you get paid.
Thanks so much for posting this! First time I've felt hopeful about teaching again online since Gogo shut down. Your stories about who you taught were especially encouraging to hear. Good luck to you and I'll keep following!
Hey, new subscriber here! Great video! I have my first class with NC in a few hours so a friend sent me this video. :) My main concern is if the "standby" button will work as it currently doesn't seem to. (I suppose it could only work when I have a class coming up, but don't want to risk it not working.) Did you have any issues with that? Thanks!
That standby button was confusing to me as well. I was able to successfully change the button to “stand by.” This may be because it took them a moment to approve me teaching sudden classes, I’m not sure.
