Uniquely gifted! Amazing ear for what she brings to the table! That is being blessed by the highest! Thank you Hiromi for blessing us with your talents!!❤❤❤❤
I stumbled across Terry Riley in 1970 when A Rainbow in Curved Air was accompanying a projected oil wheel light show in Harrogate, UK. The sound grabbed me so I asked who it was. I bought the album, and then In C and several others of his over the following years, and his music has influenced and inspired me ever since. By coincidence my father had bought a Vox Continental twin manual organ - the same instrument that Terry used on some recordings, and I spent many hours trying to emulate his technique, including tape delays. Thank you Sarah Cahill and Terry for the interview.
This is really great and I'm super impressed of how you play and how your music sounds. Got some a little of the Happy the Man vibes, or whoever but very unique and unbelievable.
Fantastic! evidence of how important the vintage AO-28 and a real Leslie are :) I'd like to hear the digital Suzuki direct through a PA with whatever pre-amp and leslie sim it has on board, and compare that with the real deal. Then we see how close the sound really is! After all, no-one is going to lug a B3 and a Leslie to gigs so they can play their XK-5 through them!
I don't understand the idea of running the XK-5 through the B3's preamp. Does this mean you have to take a B3 with you whenever you want to perform live with the XK-5? The true comparison is between the direct output of the XK-5 and the B3 through a Leslie. This seems like a cheat to advertise the XK-5 rather than a proper magazine review. I don't know about the X,K-5, but I have found the Leslies on other "Hammonds" to be the worst - I had to substitute a Nux to get a decent sound. As for the valve modeling for the preamp, I found it typical of too many modellers, which is too say very harsh, which real Hammonds are not -that's the point. But you don't really want your grit to come from the preamp valves - far better to overdrive the power amp valves.
How come there is no mention/demonstration of "key click?" I had a Model D that had all of the electronics removed and played through two Leslie 147Rs with the "combo preamp" and the key click was outrageous. Even so, the key click on Keith Emerson's Hammond is most obvious.
Love the technical part of the pain in the ass of being a rock star and electronic musician. Thanks for the under the microscope look at the rig and all the questions and answers. Along with the vintage stories. A wonderful vid, thank you so much guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Clone is always lacking in the lows and low mids- even compared against a 70s B3 which is brighter sounding than late 50s ones. Plus why doesnt anyone ever mention the action/ key feel on the clones? Im sure the clone has nowhere near a waterfall action but why not describe it? Its an intergral and essential part of the Hammond experience.
Claustrophobic place. BUT full of synthesizer goodness. Plus, how often do you see a CS-80, a Synthex and an OB 8-voice in the same place? but I really think he needs a bigger place..
