Camp Barnabas is a place of hope, acceptance, and limitless possibilities. We understand the challenges individuals with disabilities and chronic illnesses face:
The struggle to fit into a world that's not always designed for their unique abilities. The longing for an environment where they can thrive, not just survive. The desire to be recognized for their abilities, not defined by their disabilities.
We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to participate in a camp experience that enables them to discover new possibilities and feel a deep sense of belonging and purpose.
I've been to Camp Barnabas twice now, and I could not recommend it more. It is one of the most amazing, happiest, most loving places you will ever go. I've served as both a councilor and a barnstormer, and they were both amazing experiences. I won't lie to you, it's hard work. You spend a week serving someone else's needs above your own in every circumstance. You work hard so the campers can have the best week of their life. And that's the beautiful part. The campers will teach you about the love of God and true joy. They are so happy to be at a camp where they are loved for who they are. I've learned a lot about myself, joy, love, God, and selflessness in ways I can't describe. If you are considering going, go! Be ready for a beautiful week of sacrifice! I'm about to head down for my 3rd time and I've been looking forward to it all summer! I'm Camp Barnabas bound!!
This was my third year at Barnabas, and absolutely loved it. I had been hearing about Camp Barnabas ever since I was young, but didn’t start going until 2017. Unfortunately, I was only able to go three times. 2020 would’ve been my fourth year, but that was the year that Covid hit, and that was also the year that I was no longer eligible for the White House for the blind scholarship. so, haven’t been able to go since, but will always have a special place in my heart for this camp. Hope they continue to do with a have been doing for all these years, and I hope that more and more people get a chance to go and having an amazing time.
Who ever created camp barbabus really knows how it feels to have the chance to have a better, this makes me wanna cry, you guys should be rich with likes and subscribers!
Someone caught the albino fish this year during my week at camp this year! I attended on June 27, 2021 through July 2, 2021 and will come back if I have the chance :)
I had so much fun in those two rooms the week I was there this year. I think there is also a trampoline in that room. That would have been fun. I didn’t spend too much time in there because I don’t really need sensory input or anything like that anymore, but the time I did spend in there was awesome. I enjoyed the room when it was just the sensory room, and it had all sorts of different textures on one wall.
Unfortunately, I am not able to play a lot of the games in the game room because they are visual, and I am blind. But I was able to bring along some of my adaptive games to play with my missionary this year, and we had a bunch of fun! Especially when I beat her at Go Fish! Lol
