I have three of these and think they are great. I use them for taking the family camping and as a flashlight/worklight. They are great. I did break a hook using it on my e-bike hanging on the handlebars. I hit a big bump at about 25MPH and the thing snapped. I had a 5amp hour battery on it and both battery and light still work fine. There is an abrasion on the rubber portion of the corner of the battery. I am impressed at the strength of both items.
Inaccurate comment on the desirability for HP batteries on this tool as it doesn’t even have the additional electrical contacts to make use of the extra performance of HP batteries. Regular Ryobi 18V batteries work just fine with this tool to gain the benefits of the brushless motor and is what comes with the kit (saw, battery, charger) product. Otherwise the chain tensioner knob setup works perfectly well in my experience. Much easier than bringing out the spanner.
I have one and and haven’t had a problem. I also have the Milwaukee m12 it’s only used for small branches 3-6 inches that one has a larger battery than the Milwaukee they all will stop through thicker branches so you don’t burn it out if you don’t push down and let the tool do the work it’s fine they say it’s a oil free chain although it doesn’t have a oil compartment like the Milwaukee so they are saying to take the cover off and clean the saw dust then spay lubricant on the parts but I still oil the chain.
Absolutely! All chains can bog down if used without finess. Here, Ryobi even provided indicator LEDs to assist with one’s application of the tool. Bit of a rambling review that’s lacking careful thoughts.
As an aerospace design engineer I understand your overall comments about the product, yet I'm dubious that you've ever met a product in which you did not believe you could have designed to be significantly better :)
As for the gauges only going up to 120psi.. How would you know if the tank is being over-pressured if you are not measuring it? Fill it up on a freezing morning, and then look at the pressure once the day warms up. If it stopped at 120, how would you know what pressure it is?
Where did you buy it I have the same one, with the orange stripe down the handle, seeing some subcompacts that only have a solid grey handle, did we buy fakes?
There is a shit Ton of different models of ridgid impact drivers and drills. If it says “Ridgid” on it then it’s probably not fake lol don’t buy half price tools on Amazon and you good.
To me most important info is MPS chain speed, HD list it at 21 which is pretty good, but I just cant stand that upside down/sideways battery placement. It works good on their skill-saw but not chainsaw....
1) I have no problem modulating lower speeds. That's why it's a 2 speed drill, put it in the lower speed. 2) It does have a ratcheting lock for the chuck. Maybe yours is gummed up, or you just didn't try? I haven't had any problem with bits coming out, maybe if it's something tiny like 1/16". 3) It's a homeowner grade drill, not really meant for (larger) auger bits. Any tool, you have to put in the context of what it's meant for vs the cost. I don't ever put the handle on. 4) The best way to look at it is a drill that uses the same batteries as all your other Ryobi 18V products. I would not buy only one Ryobi tool if a type of tool where you can get Milwaukee, or Dewalt, etc contractor grade instead as a drill is so versatile and often the first cordless tool that someone buys, but at the same time you likely don't need all your drills to be premium quality, just the ones that do the toughest tasks. This drill is for when you don't need that.
i have one buttttttt i am confused as to why it needs oil AND a battery instead of just one or the other (plus i am missing a batter lol) i cant find out why it needs both...:(
Nice video! Works tools have got a lot better than the past works tools. That saw is ok. Big fan that you can hook up a shop vac. This is is good for what is cut. Have a good day’
I’ve had mine for nearly a year and recently it stopped retracting the plunger so it’s leaking caulk. I haven’t dug into it yet but that’s pretty important so you’re not making a big mess. Good review my brother.
