In Australia we can't buy Sudafed or Mucinex D because the active ingredient is Pseudoephedrine HCl is not permitted in Australia. Is there an alternative that is equally effective anyone can recommend?
Had some really thick and goopy earwax comíng out of my other ear ( it has been getting locked up when I go to sleep and has been annoying me for a while, now it started coming out so I cleaned it out as much as I carefully could. But now that ear is waaaay louder when I hum. normally I dont get any earwax in either of my ears. the other one is clean and dry. but I hear less from it now compared to the ear I cleaned T_T?
One of my ear the ear canal is closed due to fibrosis and radiotherapy. I nearly deaf in that ear and I am due to have a BAHA fitted. My consultant said I am ok to fly despite this. Condition hence am going to try to do a 2 and a half hour flight from London to France. Will I feel pain in this ear and should I take the medication you recommended? Many thanks
My left ear never went back to normal and I don't know what to do. I was in excruciating pain during landing for my last two flights. It hurt so much I started rocking and crying. People were giving me weird looks and it was so embarrassing. Nothing helped, none of the tactics that usually help did anything for my left ear. It just continued to feel like pure pain and torture. I don't think I ever want to fly again after that experience. I also had just started coming down with a cold right before I flew, so I was starting to become congested and I'm sure that added to the problem. What do I do now? My hear still hurts and it's clogged and it's been over 24 hours :( Help
I have tried literally every single one of the remedies in this video, and none have ever worked for me. Every time I fly, my head feels like someone has jammed an ice pick into each ear. It is SO painful that I get delirious and can’t concentrate. I dread flying because of the intense searing pain. The last time I flew I couldn’t hear anything for several days and my inner ear didn’t stop hurting until ten days after landing. And it’s not just flying; I can’t even drive up into the mountains without severe ear pain.
My ears are blocked from a plane ride, then i popped it or so i thought, and wore head phones in the car to listen to some music. Now my right ear feels clogged but my humming sounds the same in both ears. What do you think this is doc?
I had my first 14-hr flight a few days ago and I am so glad I watched this video the night before said flight. This helped immensely. Thank you very much!
Watched this video before flying yesterday. I have something going on where I have had bad ear pain, sore throat, and very swollen glands for the last 5 days. No nasal congestion at all. But my ears and throat feel sore and clogged. I was worried that it could be an ear infection. I have had bad ear pain with flying before to the point of tears. I had no choice but to take this flight. I was terrified. I did everything you said. An hour before the flight I sprayed Afrin into my nose. Then, I took Dayquil 30 minutes before the flight (sudafed agitates me too much). When I sat down on the plane I put in EarPlanes, I was nervous about when to take them out and back in, so I just left them in for the 2-hour flight. I used your nose hold and gentle blow technique when I started feeling slight pain and pressure on decent. It worked. I was so happy I followed your instructions. Thank you for posting this.
I'm so scared. I always have problems with my ears and neck when flying, and this time I have a middle ear infection and dizziness as a consequence of the flu but must fly tomorrow. I hope these techniques help me and I don't end up deaf or with another ear issue. I'll update whether these helped, as there might be other people who must fly but have middle ear issues
None of these worked for me. I hate airplanes😢. I’m going to try Flyfit because of the reviews. I’m traveling with my 14 months old baby next month and I’m so scared for her😢. It’s a 13 hours flight. I’ll give her bottle of milk while taking off and landing.
The last flight i was on scared me to death. So excruciatingly painful. I went on a trip for my birthday and returned with a ruptured eardrum which left me dizzy for a full week. Horrific. Im a second year tourism student and we will need to travel more on planes i desperately hope these work for me. I hate being scared of something that makes me so happy😔
I cannot find Afrin in Canada. Will Drixoral work ok? Also, does anyone have experience with the MACKS FlightGuard ear plugs? good reviews online so I grabbed a pair. I have severe airplane ear on descent, it brings me to tears every time on landing (unless descent is very slow) and I have pain and plugged ears for several hours to days after. I have a trip coming up and am so scared of the pain. I will update this comment of my success or lack thereof with everything I am trying out - Sudafed, nasal spray, Tylenol, Macks Flightguards.
I’m 68 and it’s been some time since I’ve flown. My left ear always causes me problems on planes because it won’t pop open on the ascent in altitude as quickly as the right does. I had lots of tubes put in my left ear when I was much younger. I understand it looks like a mass of scar tissue. It can get fairly uncomfortable and is very loud when it finally opens. Glad I saw your presentation!
Keep some chewing gum. During take off pop one in. Nothing happens you will be fine. My father taught me this and works like a charm. Also you can use toffees or candy. When you swallow it your ear pressure is relieved
It is the worst pain ive ever felt. Just started happening to me recently. Feels like my head is about to explode. The pain star5s in the sinuses then moves to my emtire head and back of neck... im fearful of my next flight. Feels like a vessel will pop and have an aneurysm.
Here because i suffered painful both departure and arrival.. But in returning flight, arrival going up, I chewed gums, it did work. But going down it happens again because i thought itll be ok, but not.
I have a problem is that when the airplane lands my inner organs( like kidney) starts to swell and almost explodes , and my wrists starts to twist inward, what’s the problem ? I will be thankful
I had sinusitis for 13weeks. Waiting on surgery. Had no choice to fly interstate for a funeral. My ear will not unblock i chew gum, put ear plugs in upon descending and its been 10hours since having landed, I cant gear a thing out of my right ear and the pain us excruciating. I've used nasal sprays, nothing will unblock it. Any suggestions here?
That’s what I was told when I called my ENT Doctor’s office after I lost hearing in one ear. They asked me to hum, and I can hear it with my affected ear. What a relieve!
I was a person who traveled constantly by plane and never had any kind of pain in my ears, until I once traveled with the flu and had barotrauma for 1 month, after that trip I promised not to travel by plane again, I am very afraid , I bought Macks and Flyfit brand earplugs but I don't dare to travel by plane again. even when I travel through the mountains every 100 meters of altitude when descending my ears pop and before that did not happen to me
I find that alcohol really helps. But I don't get pain. Just deafness and a feeling of pressure. It soon sorts itself out once we reach cruising altitude. On descent, I can usually clear it just by swallowing. On the way up, I need a good genuine yawn to clear it.
same. It feels like the sound is kinda muffled. But I still hear same frequencies in both ears and in hearing tests with noise I do just fine. No tests indicated hearing loss, but for some reason my right ear just kinda sounds more...muffled/bass boosted/idk how to describe it properly
I think i have airplane ear cause i went thru so much pain last time and again I will be flying soon so I'm here😭😂it's one the worst pain, earpods didn't help as well last time
