Is it possible to create a button that takes you to the "Insert Hyperlink" dialogue box? I want users to have the freedom to insert a document link to anything on our server with the click of a button.
I didn't know about #4 and I love that! Will definitely be super hiding some sheets from nosy folk. As for ones I use a ton, #5 (Custom formatting). I use this to bypass conditional formatting which can really bog down a large worksheet (and also gets messy with pivot tables and copy/pasted cells). Finally, thanks for pointing out using purple as an alternative for people with certain visual impairments. I love that you use icons as well.
This is great info! I'm working on the practice tab Quick Analysis 2 and when I go to Totals -> Average, the averages display at the bottom of the columns. How can I get them to display to the right as you show in the tutorial? Thank you!
I am finding face recognition as a means of two-stage authentication useful. Banking, logging onto my accountant's portal and much more are using this. THey can hack a PW, but they cannot hack your face.
Thank you! There was an image of it on screen. On my keyboard it's to the left of the right-hand CTRL key. It looks like a piece of paper with lines on it.
Hello Minda, your explanation is flawless and initially i was able to get the desired output but once i saved the file as .xlsm and closing and reopening the list disappears. tha defined name and formula are properly saved but the return data shows as blank cell. Even on pressing F9 the data cell returns as blank. What can de done to resolve this error? thank you for the write up and all the help you provide. Regards RITESH BAFNA
Nice video and great hidden features (I think advanced filter could be added as 6 😀) I use frequently flash fill , but one problem with it , it doesn’t refresh 🤦♂️, if new data is added
Thank you! Yes, good idea, Advanced Filter is another great hidden feature. If you need to refresh data you've cleaned with Flash Fill, then it's time for Power Query 😉
"Now in order to use my arrow keys inside this field we have to press F2 to go into Edit mode" --- OMG....I've been using Excel for over 10 years professionally and I always HATED how you couldn't use arrow keys in conditional formatting formulas and the like..... I can't believe the wall was only as high as a single key press this entire time. *forehead smack -- THANK YOU!!!! So many awesome tips in this video! I can't wait to apply them at work and show my colleagues <3
Great tutorial as always. On the Flash Fill tab, lines 43-50, which deal with formatted dates; when I selected cell C45 and press Ctrl-E it just copies the value in cell C44 down. It doesn't use the data in column B at all. Suggestions?
Thank you so much for these Excel tool videos! I've been using Excel since the early 90s, and it continues to surprise me with features I'm not too familiar with. It's really come a LONG way, hasn't it? Blessings from Phoenix, Arizona! 👋
I'm not sure if this makes me look smart or oblivious, but I knew most of these but I REALLY liked learning what that button was that has been staring at me all these years and it can simulate a right click. VIt's like the time when that other excel expert made an off-handed remark about editing named ranges with the arrow key by hitting f2~! Very cool!
4:24 For tool 3, when auto-fill down, I get a little handle at the end with a little plus sign which gives a few options including to "fill without formatting". Not sure if this might be helpful to others also!
Excellent tips. Thanks for sharing. I hadn't checked for a while, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that Searchable Drop-Down Lists are finally available in the main Microsft 365 channel for Mac (I have version 16.86).
That navigation pane is far easier than scrolling through sheets and/or setting up hyperlinks in a separate sheet! thanks again and greetings from the NL.
