I grew up across the river and down the beach from the Grand Haven lighthouse and I've seen waves much bigger than this drone is showing hitting it and kicking up spray 15' + over its roof. It's an amazing sight to see. Lots of people come out to watch when it's like this.
Insane to me. On the other hand. Nature takes its course. A month ago I was on vacation at the Tannis Bay, Vendsyssel Island, Northern Jutland, Denmark. The sea has always eaten in-land here. But anyway, I talked to the locals. Among other fellows a 90-year-old former farmer. I asked where his farm was when he farmed. And he pointed "There! One mile out from the sea line!" and described lush fields of the time everywhere....unfathomable, when standing on dry, nutrient-poor sandy beach soil with sand dunes as he speaks to your imagination. Just as nature also takes its course elsewhere and always has. I have been spammed from YT about the Chilcotin River landslide on Monday August 5th, 2024 and followed the escallation which I have followed with equal parts excitement and consternation, but also became known that the original natives' naming of the area as "valley of the sliding hills". As something that has always existed. Now the world is just more aware of it qua the digital revolution. And that I, as a Dane, can follow the situation in this vid with 3 months of delay (OK, so nearly as in the good old times, but anyway)
Joshua 1:9 NKJV [9] Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."

Love it every year. Things tho that a lot of people don’t like is you change your events schedule and things a lot. If you kept things the same and ran the races and qualifying the same every year more and more people will come. Great spectacle hands down but a lot of people I talked to would like to see racing Saturday and Sunday. See yall next year!!!!
This is why I don't care about sea level rise. Coasts are constantly changing. Idiots build their homes next to the beach. All shore line should be public property for at least 150 feet. With natural beaches, rocky areas, and trees that will prevent erosion. No one person should own the coast. The other side of that 150 feet sure. But for 150 feet it should be public land that is protected and used for enjoyment.
