Hello and welcome to Ed Holder Productions. On this channel, you will mostly see CSX at For Montgomery (Mine Dock) NY and some NJT. I also try and find some special trains like the Toys for tots train and or the NJT Santa Train. Please don't forget to like and subscribe and hit up the bell for notifications for when I post my videos. If you would like me to post at other places, you can always put it down in the comments. And don't forget to make it a railfanning day.
We call this area Martins Creek on the NS. Look’s like they had plenty of power today, I’ve done this move with 2 worn out SD40-2’s in the rain, boy did they struggle! Great video!
@@edholderproductions I wish they would reactivate the line from NYP to Allentown It is less than 2 hours away and they used to have daily service but stopped it in the 80s
Ed, While I appreciate your excitement over the rebuild of the Cut Off , I just can not get on board with the idea of people leaving their cars to make this a viable run and use of millions of dollars . I would love to see Amtrak run from Nashville to Atlanta , two of the fastest growing cities in the eastern half of the U.S. In spite of millions spent on studies of this service since I moved south in 1981 , NOTHING has come of it. They want a high speed line , when a viable rail line already exists. They did run varnish on jointed rail in the 40's and 50's , but now they cannot pull it off with ribbon rail !! I just do not believe the Cut-Off rebuild will EVER get folks out of their cars . The traffic in Atlanta and Nashville is BEYOND bad , this is where the $$ should go. Just my 2 cents here !!
@edholderproductions it would be cool if they did put 2 lines back in again one line can be just for New Jersey transit 🚇 and the other for amtrack and or freight service that way the New Jersey transit 🚇 don't have ta stop n wait for the other traffic ta pass by it will make things alot better n faster especially passenger rail service
I know exactly where you were standing. I didn't know it was called Colby Cut. Do you know where that name came from? I recently filmed the section along Stanhope Road bridge, and I get super nervous I'm gonna slide down into the cut. I've always got one arm wrapped around a tree while filming with the other. Nice shots, by the way.
thank you very much. Once you do it a few times, it gets easier. I am not sure where the name came from. I do know where the nick name of the tunnel came from. When snow melts it forms ice in the tunnel. Calling it the ice tunnel as its nick name.
This is incredible, thank you for filming this. I’ve been following the saga of the Cutoff for years, but since I no longer live in NJ, I can’t really go see it for myself.
this is beyond exciting. while I live in Michigan and will likely never see this train or ride it, to see Amtrak and maybe even freight plying this wonderful line again is such an amazing thing. Conrail lived up to the Con in their name with the thousands upon thousands of miles of rail they stupidly gave up.
I still don't understand why Conrail went through the effort of ripping up the tracks along the entire corridor instead of just abandoning and leaving it to rot
Hundreds of miles of abandoned train lines my dogs and i used to hike. Guess Im not the only one. Lots of lines in Orange /Sullivan County NY; (Old O&W Lines)
