Back when I was on Instagram and following you, someone had posted a link to Spencerian practice paper that had the main 52 degree slant lines as well as the 30 degree connector lines. I've since lost the link but would love to find it again
I wanted to ask about water and diluting india ink with water. Have you found any issue when diluting with tap water vs diluting with distilled water or even bottled water?
Hi Connie. Have you ever seen for final ornamental script work the horizontal lines still remaining? For example in black letter manuscripts the scribes use to leave the guidelines in the final handwritten page.
Have you ever used De Atramentis Document Ink-Black 45 ml fountain pen bottled inkDe Atramentis Document Ink and if so what is your experience with it and pointed pen?
It's sad that today at highschools you aren't taught how to write calligraphy (at least not where i live) ,my parents were the last ones who had a calligraphy lesson in middle school until highschool and i find it more useful than what i had as lessons in school. It's actually such beautiful way of writing ,plus it makes your writing style beautiful as well (maybe not for all ,but my parents have a really read-able and kind of fancy way of writing.)
I don’t know if this channel is still up to date , but I’m going to subscribe. Just by watching this videos , you’re very informative and that’s what a beginner needs to hear . I’m very new to calligraphy
Fun Fact: This pen nib is the exact same one used by legendary animator & cartoonist Max Fleischer, creator of Betty Boop & producer for the Popeye shorts! That pen nib was used on the popular "Out of the Inkwell" series; This Pen gave each character a very unique style to their linework. Here's an example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T6V3egcLnNU.html
May I ask what ink you are using? (Or gouache) I am addressing dark blue envelops and the client has requested gold lettering. Thanks for any help you can give.
🎉amazing truly amazing, I’ve started my journey about 7 years ago, I’ve gone on and off again 2 years ago I started to study Spencerian and everything has started to take off. your ideas and art are a true inspiration.
I started Engrosser's Script (ES) in 2021 and used a Hunt 101 and LPEF. It was easy to use Nikko G at the start-I tried one. But, my instructor encouraged me to use the Hunt 101 or LPEF, I did. And at the end of the course of ES, I too found the Nikko G to hard to use! You are right, you won't develop a light touch using a G nib.
Fabulous video!! Excellent video, I've wondered about a private lesson for problem areas-thank you-simple but need video. What you said hit home about private lessons!
I just dip my nibs in ink and rub them off 2-4 times to get coating off oiled nibs. I love the Zebra G and titanium Zebra G. Thank you for covering the G nibs and cages ! I know they are great to use on rough paper where the tip might catch more!
