This drug is absolutely nasty! The side effects are brutal! My 13 year old toy Maltese experienced pain, lethargy, and on the last night stopped breathing at 2:30 in the morning. In panic mode I had to preform CPR to save his life which I did !!! This drug will kill your pet before the heart murmur or DMVD does , look up pimobendan poisoning in dogs !!! There are a bunch of holistic options available. Please do your research! Just sayin!
Hello my Bixer Brooklyn at 8 years old n 7 months was diagnosed with a brain mengoima pretty decent size. She has 3 srt cyperknife treatments in June 2023. In Feb 24 she had a follow up mri that showed 30 percent shrinkage of original tumor however 2 small ones showed up one in front of brain n one on her spine so I did srt cyperknife again this time every other day. RO believes she got the 2 smaller one n she treated the original one slightly again while she waa treating the otger 2 stronger. . It's been 6 months now n she is due for an mri in the next month or so. My dilemma if I do the mri again n it shows any of them grew do I do srt again for a third time or will it do more damage to my dog such as brain damage scar tissue n will it giver her a longer life..If its not worth doing srt again tgen why do another MRI again. Can she live another year or two just on medication n supplements. I am not sure what to do. Plus my dog has a lower heart rate bronkadia n a heart murmur of grade 2 so needs atropine heart medication when she goes under anesthesia n after 3rd srt treatments her heart rate drops to 38. It goes back up but takes time. She is currently at 80. Today she is 9 years old n 10 months so we are a tear n 3 months out from first srt n 6 months out after 2nd srt. Do you recommend doing anotger mri n do srt again fir a 3rd time if needed or just let her live the rest of her life as long as she can..she went to cyperknife cancer center in Malvern PA. Thankyou 215 715 5259. Shari Leichter
Several years ago I released a confused Great Horned Owl from my chicken coop. I'm not sure how it got in, but it didn't remember either, so I gently tossed my jacket over it to carry it out the door. It's incredible how truly silent they are when flying, even up close! Thank you all for the work you do!
Hi Doctors. Im from the Philippines and would like to have a consultation with you. Is it possible? My pet was diagnosed with DMVD around 2 to 3 years ago.
See Dr. Judy Morgan's videos on youtube about holistic supplements to support the canine heart. It may be that you can dramatically improve your dog's time with very doable diet improvements and neutraceuticals vs. expensive testing.
I listen to all of these presentations They are so helpful, I can't even tell you how helpful. Veterinarians today are so over booked, and starting to burn out for several legitimate reasons. They are less able to sit with the client and explain in detail the disease process and treatments. These presentations are helping me understand, and make better decisions for my dog. Also I know now that videos I take are correctly done, and putting them on RU-vid and sending vet the link was a good choice, but the vet needs to view them to be helpful. My dog has generalized tremors, I believe secondary to heart disease.
It’s better than paying $17-20k for open heart surgery in Japan, $5k+ traveling and 2 week living expenses at an AirBNB, 1 week post-op care, quarantine for 6 months, being in a foreign country, etc. $13k sounds like a bargain to me!
Hi Dr. First, thank you for the video. My dogs heart murmurs are getting worse and accelerating on and off the last week(stage 6 now) they are loud. With the exception of swallowing a lot, he seems normal othewise,. He is a 14 y/o chihuahua. What should I be aware of when I take him to the cardiologist this week? He has been on medication for 6 years, Pimobendan and cardalis. Give him omega 3 on food 3 times a week. We are in Italy.
Hello, Thank you for this video. We've actually had our little dog to see you folks in Cardiology at the UMN. She is in stage B2. Am wondering how many dogs have had the TEER procedure done at the UMN now ... in October 2023? How has the outcome been for these dogs? Also, does ANYONE out there know the long term survival expectation for these dogs, after the surgery is performed?
Thank you for this very informative video! I was told my dog has a heart murmur, but she had a fever and was very anxious during her visit. Is there a chance that may have been the reason for the murmur sound?
I have read that every year, 50,000 dogs die from Hemangiosarcoma. Why can't the veterinarian medicine actually screen for Hemangiosarcoma? Such as completely bloodwork, ultrasounds, and x-rays? Now, what about the cost? I understand owning a beloved pet is hefty. However, we need to be aware as owners that this cancer/disease can be fatal with no warning. Same thing that happened to my dog over this weekend 8/5/23. We, as pet owners, need to be educated. I understand that right now, there is no cure, but there are treatments. If we can be aware, especially dog breeds, who are more at risk, such as GSDs, Labrador retrievers, Golden retrievers, and Pit/Pit mixes. If we are educated and if we can make a choice to end our dogs' lives or continue with the right treatment, it would be easier.
- i’ve taken my puppy to a bunch of vets .. they have aspirated and shaved her lump for cells and both came up normal - she has this patch on her that started small and is getting bigger.. no hair is growing in it..and when u itch it or she’s playing rough with other dogs the lump gets hard and swells like larger then a quarter.. then it goes back down and the skin looks like it’s loose from being swollen.. she doesn’t itch it.. it’s dry.. no pus or anything.. we’ve tried all these different creams.. help! where do i bring her ?
Just bring your dog in to be checked. Our dog was seen there, and they were great with him. Just be aware it is a big commitment when getting treatment. We went every week, but extended his life greatly.
I very much appreciated this presentation although I was somewhat disappointed that there isn't a "magic" treatment to remove plaque after it forms without a professional dental cleaning. Thank you Dr. Goldschmidt.
I did ask for chest x-ray but he did her heart xrsy instead. But it's her chest that's swelling. Should I go back an ask again for a chest x-ray. Just don't want to undermine my vets choices of treatment but my dog is getting worse.
My dog has no heart murmur. She's born 2010. But one year ago she started coughing. Now is has become constant. I had her looked at an was treated 2 times for bronchitis. But that became expensive an she did not get better So I recently took her to new vet. He did a x-ray of her heart. I asked for for her chest to be looked at. But his findings reveal rounded heart. So on heart medicine. Not getting better getting worse. Then another medicine for asma not helping. I feel her chest getting bigger puffy an a slight limp. What do you think it is. That I could ask my vet to check for.
