wanna add a few things i noticed while editing that i failed to mention. i didnt realize i was recording at a lower bitrate in obs so ive upped the bitrate so its less pixelated in future episodes. for those curious when recording in 1080p the best bitrate to use is anywhere from 4000-6000. updating my hard drive has reset some settings for alot of programs i use back to their default so im slowly learning what ones need updated and what ones are fine as is. also ive adjusted the graphics as best i can for less lag and unfortunately theres gonna still be a tiny bit of lag here or there even at the lowest best performance settings possible. ive read online that its an optimization issue at launch but either way the lag is gonna unfortunately stay for a good while.
Pro- Albert Wesker's burning hatred for Chris partially stemming from Chris laughing at his Tyrant amuses me in a way that doesn't detract from Wesker's menace and gives Chris a rare win over him (the only other one being when he finally killed Wesker at the end of 5). Con- The lighting doesn't play into the horror as well as REmake's does, even if being bright makes RE 1 unique even amongst the PS1 trilogy. Thanks for giving the story as much attention as you did despite gameplay being your preferred end of this title. It's cool that you took out time for that.
@@seantaylor424 the resident evil series is one of many I'm very passionate about. OG RE4 was my first horror game and the first game to force me to play on normal mode. After that I played REmake and fell in love with the series as a whole. I even love the live action movies with Alice.
@Pokesatsu96 I love the series too despite all of my exposure to it being watching playthroughs and movies (the first Alice movie is the very first zombie movie I ever saw). I do have the original '96 RE for PS1 and a working PS1 and memory card, though, so I want to eventually work up the courage to play it...But, man, I do NOT think I have what it takes, heheheheheh! Good luck with the Enemy Guide you mentioned in the comment on this video. It seems hard to make such a guide, since the games don't have health bars for enemies and the PS1 games randomize how much damage your bullets do (or so I've heard).
@@seantaylor424 that's perfectly fine my guy. You don't have to have played a game to be a fan of it. Hell I love a lot of games that I only ever saw let's plays of. As far as playing the PS1 game I'm sure you'll be fine my guy. It does have some good jump scares but over all its worth it. Just fair warning the tyrant fight on the heliport will only give you a maximum of 1:30 cause of unskipable cutscenes. It's doable but very tense. Especially with how easy he can bitch slap the player around the arena. And the breakdown video will moreso be just about their lore and how dangerous they are to the player. I've got the script written up for it I just need to record it and edit the video.
@@Pokesatsu96 Oh dip, I didn't know the cutscenes ate into the explosion countdown! RE games REALLY know how to make a climax! Hopefully, the recording and editing for the enemy video is less tense, but I know from experience how tricky video editing can be. Good luck!
I wanna make a quick correction to the section of Lisa Trevors story. While doing more research for the enemy breakdown video I'm currently making I made a few mistakes in the brief explanation I gave about her. It wasn't the nemesis parasite or the T-virus they experimented on her with. It was actually the progenitor virus. I falsely assumed it was the other 2 because 1 until resident evil 5 I had never read the files for RE games unless it had highlighted key words for puzzles. The 2nd reason was that because she had tentacles come out of her body I falsely assumed they also gave her the nemesis parasite since nemesis is known for using tentacles as form of offense. Those corrections will be in the enemy breakdown video I'm currently writing my script for. But I wanted to make this correction and pin it for those who know more about the lore than i do and wanted to correct me on it. Also don't be afraid to give me critiques on what to improve on. These videos are for your entertainment so I want the videos I make for you to be the best quality they can be. However if you do give any feedback I ask that you do it respectfully. I have no problem fixing what i need to and owning up to my own mistakes. However I will not tolerate rudeness towards me or anyone that is a fan of my content.
Excellent video about this port. I've been on the fence about getting it and after watching your video, I'm going to get it. I just wanted to elaborate on two points you made in the video. 1.) In the guardhouse where plant 42 is at, the solution to the keypad lock is in the room with the double door entrance as soon as you enter the guardhouse. In that room, you will see two spiders in the room on ceiling. If you turn left and transition over a screen, you'll see a pool table. If you check the table, your character will remark that it looks like the table is set up like a clock and then will read the numbers. Those numbers are the combination to the key pad. Other than that code, there really isn't any reason to go in there, hence why a lot people miss it the first view times. Still, it adds to your point of just how uncessary the backtracking was for this puzzle lol 2.) Don't feel bad about the zombies in the lab area where the zombies respawn because they are meant to do that. Those zombies were programmed to keep the player on their guard down there. The same goes for the chimera that appear. Really enjoyed your video and look forward to your feature videos!

Also I did know about the pool table but I just wrote down the numbers and what color the ball was cause I thought it was the same as the remake when the keypad had a number and a color lol. When I saw that wasn't the case for the keypad in RE 96 I was so confused and just brute forced it lol.
@@BridgetteFiori that's something I've been trying to work on. Because I use my speakers through a TV monitor it's hard to gauge what the right volume would be. And my headphones don't help much either since everything sounds super loud through them. I'm hoping I'll have the volume at the right level when I upload a new video I'm working on.
Well that actually depends on how big your monitor is. I use an old 32 in TV and get the black bars in full screen mode even without the rebirth mod. If you play in window mode at a lower resolution, like 720p for example, you won't get the black bars either.
@@Pokesatsu96 I mean I have a similar size tv that i use and the way i got rid of the black bars in full screen mode was by disabling the aspect ratio correction in the directx settings, because when it's enabled I had gotten the black bars.
I'm glad GOG managed to cut a deal with Capcom. Its sad to see there's too much negativity when the ports are fine at a good price (it cost me $15 the whole trilogy) not to mention these games haven't been re-release since the 90's (early 2000's if you want to count the GameCube ports) I just hope they get the chance to actually come to consoles next and who knows, maybe Dino Crisis 1 & 2 are next 🤞
GOG, as far as I know, only works with PC ports. The RE trilogy and dino crisis are on the PSN store. Tho idk if they'll work on a PS4 or PS5 since they came out during the PS3 era.
Pretty much every review I've seen has said that these are fine for normies looking to play these games in the most accessible way possible, but that they aren't the best way to play the games.
Tbf everyone does have a different idea of what the "best way" to play a game is. But like I said my only issue is with the ppl who won't buy it solely because it's just the original PC port that was originally for windows 95. Sure they don't have to buy it and that's fine. But crying on the Internet about how it's not the directors cut ver is just so stupid imo.
The only real complaint people have is that capcom is not actually serious about bringing the classic trilogy back. The only reason this is happening is because of GOG, which have been working on preserving some games. Capcom themselves are not actually making the port or trying to give them a proper release. This means no remaster or notable updates as well as not being available on all modern platforms. If you have a PC, there are already other versions of the games, which are even better than this and cost no money, which makes this release rather negligible. Its cool....i guess, but wasnt what people were looking for Hopefully this inspires capcom to be more serious about bringing these games to other systems or potentially remaster them, but i doubt it. If that was the case then they would have done this port themselves instead of letting GOG do it.
Ok, look, listen. I don't know if there are really people butthurt out there. I only saw people saying "could be better, but I'll buy". With this many quality of life patches? With so many PC versions out there? It kinda reminds me of Soldier of Fortune re-release on GOG. Sure it's nice to be able to buy it, but I still have to patch it for 16:9 resolution with external add-ons. It's not that GOG messed up big time, it's just that it's a bit underwhelming. A teeny-tiny bit underwhelming.
@@mac1991seth I understand there are fans who only have small issues but the ones I'm talking about are the ones who outright hate this port only because it doesn't have the fancy bells and whistles of future releases. The only problem I've seen/encountered is that the inventory menu doesn't open up and the character select kept auto switching. Which are valid criticisms since the ppl who advertised it said they ran into no issues on their test runs. Installing the rebirth mod fixed that thankfully but still. Tho I've also heard that the issues go away if you use GOGs offline installer.

They’re ports from windows 98 of course they’re not gonna be perfect but it’s great they way they are because all the current mods that are out will work with these game which are great because they are better anyways

I'm confused. The 5:00 boss, are the bodies tied to its waist decorative, proof of kill, snacks for later, or actually for private coverage as their 24xl pants are worn out and cant get replacements because they already killed everybody at walmart and their amazon prime expired?
Of all the sick and twisted things that go on in the RE universe, taking snakes, putting them in a wooden crate, and nailing it shut has to be one of the most worst. I mean why not just stick a grande to the box lid, or set up some better booby traps. Instead some loser grunt sits in a hut all day putting snakes in boxes.
Try to put more of yourself into the performance; more facial expressions and energy. You want to emulate the character you're voicing, so you should also match their mannerisms. Another thing, be louder! You ARE Ron Swanson, so own it! Hope it helps :D Keep at it, lad!
