When it comes to pine, you def do not have to go through all the grits sanding. It’s very soft..also when needing to know when to go onto the next grit, use a pencil and draw lines all over the piece, once all the lines are sanded off, move to the next grit. That’s a great method especially when using hard woods.
Thanks for watching the video... I've noticed especially with pine that if you don't sand it well enough, the stain absorbs very splotchy, resulting it in an uneven look to the finish
Awesome build! You mentioned that you sell these online - how do you ship large items like this (safely)? I sell similar sized items locally and at craft fairs, but I've always wanted to branch out to the online markets. Just have my reservations on whether a USPS worker is going to yeet my crafted item onto a doorstep. Looking forward to your next build!
New subscriber here! I really liked the creativity of this build. Really unusual to see multi room birdhouses. Do you have one of these in your own garden? Do you find it is used by diffeterent species of birds at the same time or just one? Keep up the great work.
Needn't do it for RU-vid, do it for you. I replaced my Masonite workbench top with hardwood butcher block, edged it in maple, added maple & cork jaws to my vises. Now every time I walk into my shop, it greets me with a warm smile just asking to do something with me. Our surroundings can inspire us.
It might have helped to a degree, when I ripped the boards on the table saw a few of them bowed pretty bad. I ended up having to take more of the thickness than I originally planned. Thanks for watching!
Nice work! Mathew Peech has a recent video on youtube the includes how to make a miter clamp. Its a simple that will prevent some of the headaches clamping corner joints.
Love this video, will use your techniques to make my first frame next week for a poster my stepdaughter wants framed. Recently started woodworking but haven't made a frame yet :)
Great tutorial, definitely appreciate the video since I have a few frames I need to make for some map collections and pictures I have collected over the years.
That design looks very uncomplicated and efficient. Would you happen to know what type of router bit would work best for this job? I'm planning on doing the same for a solid body guitar build. Thanks 👍
At least you could show us how you use it... Also, it would be nice to see how to fix the piece to sled, and what to do when you have some thin piece in there... All the best
Hey thanks for the comment, whenever I started making the video I didn't realize I had ordered the wrong size router bit, I thought my router accepted a 1/2" shank but it only accepts 1/4" shank. That came in today so I'm fixing to start working on that video. The rounds I have are so heavy they don't need to be fixed to the sled, but I see alot of people use hot glue to do that, and if a piece is too thin you can just cut out another 30"x30" sheet of ply wood to act as a riser for the base. Thank you for your questions and taking the time to watch my video
Btw the CMP is the Civilian Marksmanship Program......where people who grow up in California learn to shoot......the rest of us were born with rifles at the age of 5........I shot my first deer at 7.......and knew so much about rifle safety I taught all my friends who's dad's didn't teach them.
Dude, I'm happy you got a M1 Garand but we SERIOUSLY NEED TO TALK ABOUT THOSE FUCKING JEANS.....MIGHT AS WELL BE WEARING UGG BOOTS WITH THOSE SHITS. ALSO ARE YOU A SAMURAI?
the second it came into view, I actually said oh.... lol My dad used an office cabinet as a gun locker.. My Canadian step-mum said there is no way in hell I was allowed to be in the same room with a gun. (at the age of 18 I joined the Navy then 2 years later was attached to Marines) during which time Before I headed to Hawaii to head out to the Persian Gulf war. My Step-mum said she wants me to defend myself. "My dad was trying to give me a Glock 9mm. I declined the weapon & told my Step-mum I'm only allowed to defend My parents since I'm an 8404.. lol she was like shocked.. I said Since I was not allowed to service & clean weapons plus not allow to practice at a gun range.. there's no way I could possibly remember to use a rifle or pistol.. lol she didn't like that. I qualified on colt 9mm. terrible pistol 1989.. the Navy had to recall a ton of them for safety reasons..
This is an "Expert" grade which comes with a new stock and barrel, I think they go for $1150 now, they have other grades that are less pricey. I'm told you can fire modern ammo if you purchase an adjustable gas block but I just order ammo loaded to the M2 ball specs
