Paul Wilson's golf tips teach a powerful, effortless, pain-free golf swing to golfers of all ages and genders, beginners to pros. This easy swing will get you hitting your irons solid and more distance with your driver.
An effortless swing is all about teaching golfers to stop hitting the ball with the arms. Instead, I want them using their body (legs and hips) as the power source. This is different, not difficult which means anyone can learn this type of effortless golf swing.
If you're not playing to your potential, playing in pain, you need more lag and distance or just need to understand how the golf swing works, please subscribe to my channel right now so you'll be notified when I post new tips.

I've started playing golf again after a 12 year hiatus. Since I took such a long time off I decided to change my swing and do it correctly. Been working on my driver, and my irons. I can still hit the ball off the tee pretty long, and with practice I can hit the ball on the green in regulation most of the time. But if I'm more than 20 feet away from the hole I will probably 3 putt. So I'm putting away all of my other clubs and focusing on long putts.
The over 200 people who replied that they are putting amazingly well after doing this would disagree with you. Read the comments below before bashing it. It's a drill. You do it 25 times before before you play. You do your normal stroke when you play. Why would you not try it?
No sure. It's a drill. You do tg8s before you play. You do your normal stoke when you play so if we don't see pros warming up then we would never know. My best player who is a +7 handicap does it before he plays.
I'll try the putting technique paul see how I go by way my swings going great thanks your explanations on all areas are so easy to understand why do other pros complicate thing's?
Hello Paul I have been watching your body swing lessons for the last 3 years now, my golf game has improved a lot, shooting many times below 90. Thank you so much. I am 78 years old now and wish I've known your video lessons during my early days playing golf.
This is awesome! Tried a few balls on my hitting mat and it worked. Thanks for sharing this simple tip but brought significant improvement. You're a genius, Paul! Kudos!
Yeah that would be around and down not around and around. If you lean left you will swing left. So lean right as you come down. Just do swings up in the air. There is no way you would swing around then down. You would go around and around 100% of the time. So get the feeling then slowly do it lower.
Me: At green waiting on friends to putt practicing my swing. Friends: Pritchard stop moving around I can't focus on my putt. Next hole. Friends: Pritchard what are you doing all the way over there by the bunker? Me: You said you were distracted. 🤣🤣
I've been putting so bad and after watching this have realized I think too much about perfect posture, pendulum motion of shoulders etc etc and then miss putts😢. Will surely follow this...
Sorry to comment on a video mire than once, but this is simply the best 60 seconds of golf advice ever! Besides the right glut movement, the part about taking the arms out of it has never been described better. Yesterday, after irons. I was hitting my driver 300+.... going out now to see if it holds....
Glad you liked it. Some many people are trying to hit down on the ball which is totally wrecking their swings. Stay focused. Big things to come for you this season.
People. My whole RU-vid algorithm is covered in golf tips and tricks from a ton of content creators . I can say w great confidence that this guy was the one that turned around my whole mindset with the golf swing. The biggest revelation for me in all of his videos was “you better have a trigger in the start of your downswing”. Focusing on my belt buckle making the first move in my downswing instead of my arms making the first move -was a stunning revelation to way more easier follow thru and consistent shots. Thank you Paul !
Glad you found me and I changed how you think. So many people just whacking away at it hoping one day they get it. That day never comes. Need to be swinging how a pro is swinging. We use our legs and hips not our hands and arms. Keep at it.
I understand that in the downswing the lower body needs to fire first because it's slower than the upper body. The intent is for the fast upper body to catch up to the slow lower body. But with the hips firing so early, is there any concern about them clearing out too soon before impact?
There is a concern. There is timing between the release and the body rotation. Need to speed up the release first. Here is how to do it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bLskGy7rulo.html
With my way you should be looking at the putter hitting the ball. This is what I teach. You can also try looking at the target. I just don't like this. I find this makes you come out of it and contact suffers.
Whip is the part that many miss in their swing. I found it easier to understand that way. A good golfer basically told me to relax my hands.....and whip the club through impact....so you hear the swoosh. Made a huge difference when I applied it. Added a good 30 yards to every iron and hybrid.
I am 58 and driver swing speed is 96-101 MPH and I am giving it everything. Probably looks like I am using an axe to cut down a tree. Will have to try this
Yes, you are literally maxed out. I am doing it a different way. I am hitting it with looseness no physical strength. Do these 2 drills and I will get you to 300. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SfIM2GWj9Cs.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hJeAcEYbvhM.html This is important too: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bLskGy7rulo.html
Thanks for this! I’m by no means a great golfer (18 hcp) but I selfishly like to think that I am pretty good for a second year golfer. But sometimes, I come down with a case of the shanks, and it turns me into a head case. Yesterday, I couldn’t hit 3-56 degree, and it was brutal, never had a case of the shanks quite like it. Simple fix!
I’ve got arthritis in hips ankles & knees i’m relying on loose arms and snapping my wrists for my entire swing, do you have anything to help me? I’m 64 can still shoot 10-12 over on a difficult links course, driver is about 210yds.
Well, if you have a physical issue and can't turn all the way through you need to turn however far you can. This may cause pushes so you need to get the ball to hook back. To do this you need a very slightly strong grip with the 2 V's pointing at your shoulder. Then you need super loose wrists to get the power and the release. Just work on this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M868QsTlGt4.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-p4vASmOzkPg.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N-nGM6yN790.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yHEv7G9Z5-0.html Once you get that combine it with how much you can turn through it.
I turn about 45° back and then 45° forward, I’m working on the snap of the wrists, the club finishes over my left shoulder, but I can’t turn enough to see it with my right eye
That is a band-aid. The club makes and arc. You are dropping it back in the arc so be prepared for pushes and push fades. Once you start hitting those shots (which you will) remember my tip. Been fixing fat shots on ball 1 since 1991.
Impact position is different than address position. If you try to hit a ball by returning to address position you will hit fat slices. Right heel off the ground is impact position. Mimic that position each time you strike the ball.
For sure. Too many people just whacking away at it with their arms. In doing so they face the ball as they hit the ball and get trapped on the back foot at impact. Fat shots are so easy to fix.
I am a racquetball player and have just taken up golf, (74 years old). In racquetball, if you do not 'cock' and snap your wrist at point of impact, you will generate no racquet speed, hence no power. I have applied Paul Wilson's wrist action in golf and my club speed has increased a lot which results in greater distances with all my clubs. It does take time to develop and my best additional tip, (transferred from racquetball0, is to try your best to watch the club hit the ball as your snap your wrists. For senior golfers this is one of the best tips to stay competitive with the younger players.
For sure. I literally get people hitting it amazing in 6 balls. I tell them that before we start. They will go from topping to perfect in 6 balls or less and they do. I knew there was something about those Spalding clubs being that weird looking. Club manufacturers will stop at nothing to sell clubs.
I have watched your videos For the first time I finally caught on to what you have said about the arms following the swing. I tried it in my backyard into my net
Wow, I am speechless. I’m so glad I ran into this video. I was getting so frustrated because I couldn’t figure out what the issue was. The fix was so simple! I’m hitting my wedges pure now!
I kindly disagree because if you bow it like how I did for many years I was way too erratic with my swing meaning I hit a wonderful shot and take the same swing and hit it like crap even tho it totally felt like I did the same thing as the good shot.. you say that bowed will close the head of the club which makes you hook.. well if you cup your wrist you will leave the head of club open and have to do far more things (unnaturally) on the down swing to hit it good or else you will end up slicing or shanking the ball.. the aha moment for me was when I corrected by cupped wrist to a slight bowed grip and I was hitting it so darn great.. if you want more turn with a bowed wrist then you have to straighten your back leg on the back swing rather than keeping it flexed.. for the right hand golfer it’s your right leg. Nowadays I have more of a flat or neutral wrist set at the top of my swing and it works great for me .. I guess this topic of wrist set is somewhat controversial since you have seen many good golfers use all three forms (cupped, flat, and bowed) and have succeeded with it.. I’m not trying to insult your intelligence sir because you have far more experience with golf but like I said what worked for me for the 15 years I have been playing golf (my aha moment) was to ditch the cupped and go for a slight bowed wrist and I’m 45 years old and have no issues turning my hips but I am pretty athletic and go to the gym a lot 😊
Here are my thoughts: 1. Overcupping not slight cupping can cause you to leave the face open. With with the way I teach the grip holding it across the left palm (not in the fingers which is parallel to your knuckles) it is impossible to over cup. So that removers this as an issue. 2. I have been teaching for now my 34 year. If someone (who started at an adult) can get 10 degrees of hip rotation at impact it's a miracle whether straightening the back leg or not. Easy 80% of everyone I teach is facing the ball at impact. There is literally no difference between set up and impact. 3. Slight bow could be doable. This is not what they are teaching. They are teaching severe bow at the top. This position is not dominating the tour. None of the best players of all time did this. Who is dominating? Scheffler. Slightly cupped at the top and slightly open face. 4. As for it working for you are you doing it from square? Some people seem to think doing the bow and closing their stance it working. This is a pull hook. Sure, someone going for massive slice to hitting a pull hook would be better but I want the person to do it right and hit it on target from square. Again, if what you are doing is working for you then keep doing it. Out of all of the students I have asked who have tried bowing at the top zero so far has said it has helped. For some it hurt their wrist. I don't have a problem getting people to hit it straight, draw or fade some square with a neutral grip and slight cupping so for me I'm going to keep doing what I do. If something comes along in the future that can beat Scheffler, Nicklaus, Byron Nelson, Hogan, Tiger 2000-2003, Bobby Jones etc. than I may consider it.
Well Paul it works it's open up my swing I was definately all jammed up and I recall a previous swing feel from past once I did what you suggested and definately more power thankyou and striking better might be able to drop my handicap from 8 now , ambitions of being a scratch golfer even at age 42 , i previously played then gave golf away for 10 years I'll keep watching your videos putting is a area I'm trying to tighten up
Glad you tried it and feeling more power. Try my putting tip: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-atYm04-YLkA.html Do your normal stroke when you play.
Good afternoon Sir, I tried it this morning for an hour on the green.. I didn’t make any , but the results were great! With most within inches of the cup!
