I've got a 2.75 1100 that started out life as a Competition Trap gun. I bought the 3" steel shot barrel which allows me to shoot 2.75 shells and 3" steel shot magnum loads with no problems. Didn't require any gunsmithing or modifications to the receiver at all. I've had the gun for 40 years, had it rebuild internally a couple of times, it's killed thousands of ducks and geese, shot thousands of rounds of skeet. It's not much cosmetically to look at, but she cycles and shoots anything I feed her. I put a new O ring in her every couple of years, she just keeps going and going.

On 1996 New Holland I've been trying to get that cap off for 2 hours. I whacked it on outside with big hammer to help break threads loose. I've heated it, Kroll oil, wd 40, liquid wrench. It will only turn quarter or less back and fourth. The square is getting rounded now. I ground it flat again. I checked other side it is same way.
@ReturningtoBasics
@ReturningtoBasics 12 дней назад
Give the dealership a call and ask someone in service if there is a trick to removing the dust cap. It may be threaded. Most on all vehicles and implements are just drive in but I've encountered a few that were threaded. Good luck.

I have the straight 6 on the 04 Envoy and it was hard to get the spark plug out and I finally got it but broke the white part off and some of the pieces we left in the hole which I hope I got all them out. But after getting the new plug in I can't get the sparkplug socket out. Any ideas?
@ReturningtoBasics

Try using some Fluid Film. Spray it around the outside walls of the socket and let it soak for a while. That may allow you to break it free.

Hi…just got 410 Hatfield SAS and many issues…. Can you describe what your “ polishing techniques were? I am pretty handy but a little slow on uptake sometimes… a powder or slurry or a dremel wwheel?
@ReturningtoBasics
@ReturningtoBasics 27 дней назад
I used Crest extra whitening toothpaste, however I recommend using hand valve grinding compound. I used a Dremel tool with a small cotton buffing wheel. I polished every part that moved and all the surfaces where something slid. Afterwards I cleaned and lubricated the gun. It has cycled perfectly ever since even with light loads. Good luck with your 410.

That is a great demonstration and answered my long-standing question about what type of paint to use to paint the IBC Totes. Thank you very much. I wanted to know if you painted the bottom of the Totes as well; I just want to make sure. Also, can you please mention the exact paint you used and how many such cans I will need per 330-gallon tote? Thanks in advance! We appreciate your taking the time to educate us.
@ReturningtoBasics
@ReturningtoBasics 2 месяца назад
You’re welcome! I did not paint the bottoms as they are fully covered by the metal cage. Also, I used Rustoleum enamel (which is alkyd enamel) that I sourced from Home Depot. I used spray cans of Dupli-color adhesion promoter (CP199) to treat the tanks before spraying with black paint…so it would stick. I reduced (thinned) the black paint with about 25-30 percent mineral spirits. Hopefully that information will help you get through the job. Let it dry well before putting the tanks back in the cages. My totes are still holding paint well years later.
@ReturningtoBasics
@ReturningtoBasics 2 месяца назад
Also, I think I only used two gallons to paint 6 totes. I also used about one to 1.5 spray cans of adhesion promoter per tote.

I have sanded / polished several of my cheap semi-auto pistols (.22lr and 40 S&W Hi-Point) and I have never had a problem at all. I use 3M automotive sandpaper starting in the 320-600 grit range and then move up to 1000, 1500 and sometimes 2000 grit. Polishing the face of the feed ramps can really insure trouble free cycling. I also get a smaller than chamber wire brush on a cheap brass section of cleaning rod, wrap at least 000 or finer (0000) around the brush so it fits snuggly into the chamber. Then chuck the rod in a drill, cost the steel wool / brush with some WD40, CLP, 3 In 1 oil or any type of lubricate and polish out the inside of the shell chamber. This with help insure easier feeding but it will certainly help with failure to extract (FTE) in semi-auto and pump shotguns with some of the cheaper shells that expand and get stuck in the chamber.

I painted my tanks black some years ago. I used a paint for plastic and it has worn off everywhere there is contact between the tank and the cage and some on the tops.Green inside once again! I put 6 mil black plastic around the outside temporarily. This winter, when I drain my tanks I'm going to wrap them in painted wood. My home will serve as one of the 4 walls and I'm going to build a top also. I'm guessing a couple hundred dollars, but they will be shaded, and I'm painting the outside white to match my home. My roof is shingles as well and I use fish tank filter foam in the down pipe that goes into the tank. I simply wash it out after a rain. I also have a first flush and leaf eater.
