In my country, I have totally different brand choices - Hluru, Hayman, Sela. Hluru is completely Chinese, lots of reviews. Cannot find reviews of Hayman. The company was UK once and produced real drums, but now they seem to be out of business and Taiwanese are using their brand. Their tongue drums seem to be thicker than Hluru, so very likely will have a deeper, more resonant sound. Hluru might sound "flatter"? Not sure. Cannot try it in local stores, have to buy it online.
I’m so glad I saw this video! I’m waiting for my tongue drums to come in and was noticing it people playing with different mallets… This is a very informative review, especially the mallet with the hard rubber that could put your tongue drum out of tune. 😮 Thank you so much. 🦋🦋🦋
I found a pretty cool brand - Vibedrums - the have a 528hz scale on one side and a 432hz scale on the other. Well either side can be tuned to your liking but I thought it was a brilliant idea as I was looking for 528/432 specifically!
Thanks for the recommendation. We want to explore more tongue drums and add more of these sounds to our studio. I've been using them in classes not only to teach tongue drumming but also for applying some basic music concepts and demonstrating these to student who are new to studying music.
The drums in this video all tend to have an upper register range, so music notation for them would be on the treble clef. We'd love to have a bass-range tongue drum! Maybe one day in our near future!😍
I searched for this after watching this comparison video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BRtrI6nthHk.html It already had that nice metallic sound when you used the mallets. But I really liked it when played by hand. It was soft, but that can probably be fixed with a magnetic pickup mic from guda-drum. The only downside for me is that it has little reverb and that I can't find the drum for sale anywhere in Europe.
Yes, in the United States, this Yoliyoqu drum has been on and off sale on Amazon as well. It's back on as we've checked today on 23 September 2022. We found it doing a search for "Yoliyoqu drum." It has a flower cut in the middle with 11 notes. We did see some similar ones to this one but haven't tried these (yet). For a very inexpensive drum (around $20 U.S.) that comes with its own mallets, it has a great sound and it's a solid feeling drum as well. Hopefully, more will be made available. That's a challenge with RU-vid videos on tongue drums--changes are made all of the time.
Thanks for the review, how long have you owned this one? Do you think the Yoliyoqu will stay in tune after using it a lot? Could you please post a link to the video where you explain how to tune them?
We're working on some more educational videos and will post these soon. Teaching at school has us very busy right now but we intend to address tuning. Because of the size and materials, this is a sturdy drum. We've played it for about a year now and have had no issues with the instrument staying in tune. Great questions here.
Here's another video of the forsythia bushes in our neighborhood, accompanied by tongue drum music. We are having our usual hot August weather, so looking back at spring right now is very relaxing. Have a wonderful day and enjoy!
Greetings from Dapper Kitty Music! It is summer right now, so we wanted to think of cooler times! These are tulips that grow in our garden and in the neighborhood. We're fans of milder weather! Spring and autumn, we love you!
This is one of the large Meinl Sonic Energy steel tongue drums. It is slightly over a foot (12 inches) in diameter. We hope this helps answer your question. Thank you for asking.
We wanted to create a gorgeous video for our 100th on our RU-vid channel! Thank you so much for watching and for supporting what we do by subscribing. --Dapper Kitty Music

Hello, Rebecca. Coming from you, we take this as an awesome compliment. Yes, we like combining our mad musical and librarian skills in our compositions. Thank you for this. We'll have part 2 posted very soon. :)
Hi, Everyone. This week, we matched our Celtic B minor tongue drum music to many images that are found in _The Book of Kells_. We hope that you enjoy the results.
Hi, everyone. We got a little bit behind with teaching and the end of the semester but we'll catch up soon! We hope that you're still celebrating the Earth even though it's now May. Happy spring from our side of the globe!
