In Japan, an increasing number of owners are converting recumbent two-wheelers and trikes into e-bikes. I have back and ankle injuries that make it a little difficult to run long distances, but I'd like to row and ride using only human power for about 10 years.
The under-seat steering wheel has a strong recumbent feel, and it's nice to have a wide view of the sky without any obstructions like the steering wheel in the front view. In terms of ease of riding and stability when climbing hills, over-seat steering is better, and I like the open handle type because it's especially comfortable, but it's a shame that the handlebars intrude so much into the front view.
My Flevobike Green Machine is a standard model, non-electric, and human-powered. It has a frame covered by a chain case and a Rohloff SpeedHub 14S internal hub under the seat. This internal hub, which is usually attached to the rear wheel hub, makes it look like an electric bike. The electric model is the "E-GreenMachine" that came out later, and a motor unit was added under the Rohloff SpeedHub. www.gqjapan.jp/life/interior/20121029/w_flevobike
