Awesome build! This definitely gives me something to think about. I'm doing Honor mode for my second ever run and in my first run Wyll was the only character I multiclassed because my Tav was a warlock, so Wyll was a 6/6 bladelock swords bard. I'm keeping him full warlock because he's the only party member with counterspell right now and I also want to get him to Lifedrinker. I currently have Wyll using the flawed helldusk gloves with the fire acuity hat, but I might play around with what you suggest so I can give the helldusk gloves to Monk Lae'zel (who has Boooal's blessing so I would like her to inflict bleeding). Although the Sparklehands have been working well for her. Also, you reminded me that I completely overlooked command. I'm going to respec him to make sure he has that. Since I'm still in act 2, I'm using Dammon's warhammer and when using that with the ring of arcane synergy he hits like a beast if he starts the fight using EB.
Invoke Duplicity is even worse than I thought. I tried casting Darkness on my party to protect us from ranged attacks and it broke Shadowheart's concentration on her Invoke Duplicity. Turns out you need to be able to see your illusion copy or it breaks your concentration. It doesn't say that in the spell description but I found it out during my honour mode run, woohoo!
It's funny cuz my first campaign on normal was with a DB monk/ 4 elements and I didn't feel like they were as weak as people kept saying forreal. Game is really not that hard so I feel min-maxing is kinda pointless.
Keep the builds coming. I especially love your mono builds. Thanks for all you do! One day I’ll finish this game, but I just love changing characters one or two acts in! 😂
Perfect timing. I'm just about to start my first honor mode run and I didn't really use wyll in my first run through because I find eldritch blast warlock so boring. I was trying to figure out a more fun build
Id' think Nyrulna is a worse choice for a Pact of the Blade Warlock than for anyone else, because pact weapons cannot be thrown and some of Nyrulna's bonuses only work when thrown.
I’m using Wyll as a suboptimally built lockadin right now in my first honor run, and the only way I use armor of agathys is when I still have a spell slot left, but my party wants to short rest. Getting it free for the next combat with both spell slots is really nice
Monk being B is kinda crazy. I've done 4 playthroughs and the one I did with Monk was by far the easiest because of their insane power and builds. Taking tavern brawler feat and then drinking hill giant strength potions with extra attacks and flurry of blows lets you do reliably 80 damage per turn and you almost never miss.
Going for 100 percent thematic accuracy, I spec Wyll as Fiend Blade Warlock 5 ( for obvious reasons) / Champion Fighter 4 ( trained by his father, uses crit finesse weapon in rapier )/ Hunter Ranger 3 ( blade of FRONTIERS ). Doesn't use shield, only rapier in right hand. Medium or light armor. 10-14-14-10-12-16 starting attributes. Definitely not a min max build, but it destroys everything all the same
Why would you go to Fighter 4 and Ranger 3 instead of reaching level 5 in either class? The Pact of the Blade Extra attack is the only version of extra attack that stacks on top of the Extra attack that martials get at level 5. If you took 5 Ranger or 5 Fighter you'd have an extra attack every turn. Wyll is canonically a Ranger after losing his powers, so I usually go 5 levels in Ranger. Hunter might be more thematic, but it is hard for me to avoid the far superior Gloomstalker subclass. Two levels of Fighter would be enough for Action Surge to give yet another extra attack once per short rest.
@@magister343 Because Wyll is mainly a Warlock and that's how he stays in my builds. And I much prefer having Hunger of Hadar and Counterspell than anything the other classes can give me at level 5. And this is an Honour mode build. Blade extra attack doesn't stack with martial extra attack. If I went Gloomstalker, I'd throw thematic out the window and give him a shield and heavy armor too. Maybe a huge flail too😂
I did this build for one of my HM runs, it’s a blast 😉. Very versatile! One thing I will suggest to anyone trying this is to consider going GWM and wielding 2h weapons instead of sword and board. Fighting in darkness will allow for easy hits and frequently criticals due to advantage. This will allow for an extra attack on your bonus action. Combos good with luck of the realm. Your resilient even with no shield thanks to darkness and a ton of temp hp. Just a consideration, a super fun class regardless of the build imo!
my only complaint with this build is blade of frontiers really should have a blade for his weapon. if your willing to drop down to +2 there are a lot of cool options. if you can get will performance there is a +1 blade in act 3 that with a performance check adds charisma to damage for 10 turns resets on a short rest.
It's true! Honestly one of my complaints with the game is that the lategame weapons are pretty spotty as to which archetypes get good ones. The legendary bow is pretty weak, hand crossbows have no good options, finesse weapons are all based around very specific damage types and fighting styles, one handed weapons are hit and miss.
@Cephalopocalypse something I hope patch 7 can fix is itemization. Modding tools could keep the game fresh if some of the under used items were buffed!
