This team and organization has tons of talent and just needs better on field management to make this a very competitive 5 year window. I hope to see an upgrade in management this offseason although i wont hold my breath given this owner and fo track record.
I don’t think the picking and choosing of type of errors make a difference as I’m sure you can do that with any other player with high errors. Cruz stinks at SS and glad they switched him to CF
I mean, that's fair. Except the type of plays that we pointed out shouldn't happen. He has the physical ability, he just doesn't have the coaching. Mental errors are more fixable than physical errors. Almost half of his are mental. As I said, overall, not upset with the move for Cruz. But for the team, I'm not sure.
O Cruzs bat is way more important than his defence. Putting him on the grass allows him to concentrate on hitting. Sure he has too learn the outfield but that speed he has sure covers up a lot of warts in the outfield it does not at shortstop. And Jake, IKF won a gg at 3rd where his arm was just fine hes gonna be just fine at short. And finally,an outfield of Reynolds,Cruz,de la Cruz is gonna be the best power outfield the Pirates have had in a looonng time and the defence will be adequate.
In Jake's defense, though. The throw from SS is further than the throw from 3B. You definitely need a better arm to play SS than 3B. But I think it's "fine" too. It just looks really slow when you've been watching Cruz. SS is also IKF's worst position of the 3. So, there's merit there.
@@bridge2buctober for the rest of this year ikf is fine this season is done so getting cruz reps in center is the priority. Ss can be adressed in the offseason. Yorke or Johnson can be moved and a trade or free agent can be had. I would like to see some of the young arms brought up and used from the pen to get them some mlb experience and for craps sake play henry and see if he figures it out. In short its time for the team to start evaluating for next year.
@@bridge2buctober IKF at SS next year is fine by me,hes a defensive upgrade over Cruz and anyone else in the org. and he is better on offence than anyone but Cruz. Would i like to see them upgrade, sure,. Do i think they will? Probably not and honestly the priority this off season should be firing haines and fixing the offensive approach as well as fixing the bullpen. This team has the talent to be great it just needs coaches who know how to utilize it. Im fine with Tellez and Endy at 1st, de la Cruz in right, cruz in center and reynolds in left with suwinski/palacios/ect. As 4 5 6 ofers. Gonzales is the 2nd bagger with multiple options should he fail. Ss and 3rd are not as solid and depend on hayes/ikf/triolo performing and catcher will be Bart/Davis with Starter and back up being predicated by whos performing. Starting pitching is going to be frickin dominant with tons of depth. The pen is honestly the biggest question with SS and and 3rd coming in next.
Wee willy wow wow that pen is awful and honestly has been a hot mess all year and yes i know they have had good stretches but can you honestly say youve been comfy with them as a whole this year.
Its also pretty obvious German is not a bullpen option. Glad Feigl finally made it to the show which is an accomplishment not many get to do now please go back down. I am very glad Cruz is moving to the outfield where his talent fits best i think he has the potential to be great. Bye woodford and mat thanks for nothing.
When you have an offence that not good enough to comeback when your down and a bullpen thats not good enough to hold a lead when your up your not gonna win a whole lotta games are you😂😮😢😢
Why would that dumba.. shelton not pinch hit for bae in the 9th?? It wasnt a much better chance for a righty against yates but hey yet another game where shetland proves he does not need to be a big league manager.
You're always trying to win. Always. I will never believe that coaches or players are throwing games until it's proven that they have already done it. I just can't imagine getting that many people on board with it.
@@bridge2buctober You may be right about Shelton not losing on purpose and im not saying hes tanking on purpose i just think he sucks as a manager and loses games because of it. As for Haines he costs the team games because of his inept coaching not in game so much as in general. As for tanking on purpose it has happened many times and been proven, its not so much something you have to get the entire team on board with just some or all of the coaches, the owner or gm says lose on purpose or lose your job and the coach either says no and gets fired or yes and stays employed. Why would a coach say yes? Simple, the coach knows the team benefits more from high draft picks than low draft picks thereby improving his and the teams chances of winning long term. Anyway brother be safe, have fun and have a great day😀
MLB gets rid of the shift and i think ok cool now maybe baseball wont be as boring as watching paint dry. I was wrong, baseballs answer to no shift was to start swinging as hard as possible on every pitch and striking out wwaaayyy to much with the net result of baseball thats just as boring and more frustrating as shift baseball. If your gonna tell me you dont get frustrated watching players who should be pretty good average hitters up there flailing away and striking out then i gotta call bs brother🙂
Some of the same people on Twitter who were complaining about Greg Brown's criticism of Cruz were all over Ji Hwan Bae for taking poor routes to two balls in Los Angeles on Sunday. Those two balls had catch probabilities of 0% and 5%. Cruz has made 9 errors in his last 15 games. I think it's fair to be a little extra critical of him. I'm also someone who would keep him at SS. He is very capable of playing a decent SS. A lot of his errors seem more mental than physical and I think that's why they pile up on him like this
I'm sorry Josh ive just never been impressed with oneal cruz,he has hands of stone, bad footwork and more holes in his swing than the proverbial swiss cheese. He is the next polanco.
We will agree to disagree. How could you not be impressed by some of the stuff he's done? He's not consistent, sure, but he's essentially playing his first full season. The numbers in their first 200 games aren't even close. Cruz is way better. -- Cruz will be our first 40 hr guy since Pops.
@@bridge2buctober i just dont see it brother,i mean sure the talents there in spades it just does no good if it doesnt translate to consistent success, with cruz his biggest problem is on his shoulders and that tiny ass glove he uses is frickin ridiculous for a man that big. As for hitting he has the same problem he has throwing to first,he swings way to hard on every swing and he pulls his head off the ball, when he keeps his head down and follows bat to ball it goes a long way. I dont think we disagree at all your just more optimistic about him and andy by god haines figuring it out than i am. When haines goes and cruz gets a bigger glove ill share your optimistic outlook.
@RonHeichel Cruz uses an 11.75" glove. Which is the high end for a shortstop. Anything bigger and the ball will get lost in there. But yea... He's gonna hit homers
@@bridge2buctober better the ball get lost for a second than pop out into the outfield he does not have soft hands so he needs to compensate for those bricks somehow bigger glove, maybe something morr supple or more padding, hes gotta do something to stop all those balls clanking off,i still say the best solution is in the grass,he has range, speed and a rifle.
Yep,thats my pierats!! Get the offence going and the pitching goes south, get the pitching going and the offence goes south with the defence bobbing up and down,up and down.
I hadnt missed watching a game all year till the last snakes game and the padres series i just couldnt bear to watch what i knew was coming. I'll probably watch tonight as long as Kellers in the game at least he (🙈🙉🙊) gives the Pirates a chance and i'm curious to see how they react after getting spanked for trying to play with the grownups i hope it was a growing pain the team learned from.
Well Josh it was nice while it lasted. Theres nothing quite like pennant race baseball and its something we as Pirates fans have experienced so few times. While this one is not completly done for the Pirates i think the pierats are gonna stick around for the next 6 games and finish off this pennant run,ahh well at least Nutty and Cherry can keep their plan for 25' in place. As we Pirates fans have become ( a little to much) accustomed to saying, next year we'll be in it and wash rinse repeat.
Watched some minor league ball and i gotta say i like the challenge system where the hitter gets to challenge called strikes twice. Umpiring has become pretty horrific i mean folks have been comolaining about umps since baseball started, this crop of umps now though are pretty bad . Im not in favor of robo umps but that challenge system looks pretty fair and fast to me.
Checked to see what the score was and what do i see? The frickin grounds crew looking like circus clowns trying to move water from one spot to another !! I mean this crap just happened the other day and should have never happened again, wtf!? This is a supposed major league franchise looking like a bush league organization. Unbelievable!! This is embarassing.
At this point winning the division is a more realistic option rather than a wilcard spot. The buccos only have 2 teams to jump and the Cards are coming back down and the m's are looking pretty ordinary, meanwhile Arizona and the Padres are on the rise.
Well Josh ive decided not to watch the Pirates games this week. Not because i'm pis$ed or anything. Its because i think this week is going to be great starting pitching, adequate offence putting up early leads, followed by the bullpen collapsing. I really hope i'm wrong and the Pirates go 6 and 2 against the Padres and Dodgers at least. Thats what i hope happens, what my rational mind tells me is the Pirates are going to lose a lot of close games this week in the late innings. Anyway brother, may you and Jake along with your family have a safe happy week.
Yep,pen go bye bye. This was plain to see coming. Pen started having trouble getting that 3rd out awhile back and it snowballed from there. Cant win with almost every reliever coughing up at least one run. Time to start calling up some of the future starting pitching depth to plug some holes and give the current relievers a break.
Kinda hard to win when your bullpen is giving up at least a run per inning. These things happen for sure and all i'll say is Holderman needs to be used in non high leverage situations for at least 3 or 4 games,he just looks real fatigued and in need of a break.
Cant disagree with you Josh about other shortstops being bad just like Cruz. My question is how does pointing out how bad another teams shortstop sucks help our shortstop not suck?
@@bridge2buctoberhe really is that bad Josh, hes not moving off shortstop this year,at some point though he has to go on the grass. For one thing the Pirates have multiple guys coming through the system who are better than him at shortstop and they have no options that would be better than him in the outfield. I think the only reason hes not in the outfield now is he would throw a fit and the team probably wants to sign him to a Keller,Hayes ,Reynolds type deal.
@RonHeichel He is also a better option than anyone else we have right now. He makes plays Alika can't make and he's better for the lineup. He will move off short eventually, though. We just need someone else who can make the plays he makes.
@@bridge2buctober cant help but think if IKF was in there instead of either triolo or hayes the pirates score one or two more. If tri and hayes arent married to an automatic out theyre sure dating for awhile.
O.Cruz is an outfielder plain and simple He would be great at any outfield position with that speed, reach and cannon for an arm and he could pay more attention to hitting,he could be another Aaron Judge with the power he has. The kid is as talented as hell he just is not a shortstop.
I gotta say brother i like this trade deadline more than any of 13 14 15. I have to eat some crow and give cherry credit for hrlping this team short and long term. Now i can hopefully sit back and just enjoy baseball win or lose because now they have a complete competitive team without a dead bottom of the lineup theres still a couple holes in hayes and mat just not the 5 through 9. On a side note i really like Bart i think hes what henry is supposed to be.
Been reading up on cherrys time with the red sox and i gotta say i am not encouraged about him being able to get this team what it needs at the deadline i.e. outfield bats. If he doesnt get this team wht it needs i will for sure be not be watching this team fade down the stretch im to old to accept that kind of abuse.
I cant do this anymore i appreciate ya Josh and Jake. After half a century i'm retiring from this pathetic excuse of a baseball team you guys have a great life. Heck on the bright side i dont have to listen to the soy boys at ns9 anymore,i will miss you two though, the rest including the pierats not so much, peace fellas.
@@bridge2buctober not the team brother its the shitty owner,i have a bad ticker and half my lungs so i dont need uncle ebenezer ruining christmas by stealing tiny tims crutch, what i need to do and am is closing all the feeds for pirates "news" its the same thing i did with so called news years ago and its amazing how much calmer i am and how much clearer things are now. I dont know if i told you but i stopped watching all sports several years ago after they decided to jump into the stupid end of the gene pool and just this year started watching baseball again because i heard the pirates had a chance to be good again and they should be and with any other owner would be. Anyway here we are and i think for my own health the only pirates news feed im gonna use is you and your brother you two are pretty grounded. Well ive written you that novel ive always meant to write so ill finish by saying thanks tou you both and may yall have a great day.
I will say this. If nutty and cherry dont get these guys some help after the effort this team has put in to keep themselves in contention i'm done being a Pirates fan. I've supported this team for almost 50 years and since nutty bought the team i've seen some of the godawfullest baseball decisions and teams and i've stood by the team,if nutty and cherry turn their backs on these players when its the time for the owner and gm to do their part to help the team the most i'm done. Thats dereliction of their obligation and is a disgusting jackass move that i cannot forgive.
