I was worried about starting Heavenbreaker, but I ended up really loving it! Huge Neon Genesis Evangelion vibes and not as much romantasy as I was expecting.
Grace Draven is a great author, I absolutely loved Radiance, its a beautiful story. Im curious to see what you think when you get a chance to read. Ive been in the worst slump lately but i think i might have found a book, finally, to take me out, its called Fall of the Horizon by Jessica Ayala, might want to take a look. Thanks for sharing a little more of your beautiful pooch, Luna.
I’ve already read and finished Goddess of the River and I dare say I might enjoy it even more than Kaikeyi. It’s nice seeing these retellings from hinduism given its part of my ethnic & cultural background.
I find Adrian Tchaikovsky so interesting - I thought Guns of the Dawn was fine, but I've DNF'd Empire of Black and Gold twice, whereas I loved the whole Children of Time series and the Bioforms books...
I’m currently finishing The Fate of the Tearling for June and my first book of July is gonna be The Hemlock Queen. The Foxglove King was so good and I really hope the sequel doesn’t let me down. I had planned to read Fragile Threads of Power in July, but after finishing A Conjuring of Light and reading the synopsis, I decided to skip it. Unfortunately VE Schwab’s writing style isn’t my favorite, plus I don’t care enough about Lila to continue reading about her
Currently reading the third installment in the Emperor's Edge series. Easy to read and doesn't take itself too seriously, so great for a fun time. Curious what you'll think :)
For the life of me, I can't understand why Kushiel's Dart hasn't gone viral on TikTok yet. Romantasy fans would have an absolute field day with it. I feel like it's such an important series within the Fantasy corpus and wish it would get more recognition online!
@@Mimlou I call it the "original Fantasy-Romance series". It was written well before Romantasy became what it is today, but in hindsight it really feels like a fore-runner to the genre. It was certainly infamous in its day! It's also a wild ride - I hope you enjoy it!
I love Erin Morgenstern's writing style. Both of her books were five-star reads for me, so I hope you'll like them to! The starless sea is one of the cleverest books I've ever come across. How the author is able to connect stories inside stories is just fantastic ❤
I absolutely adored Gideon the Ninth and the ending absolutely wrecked me! I’m hoping to get to the next book soon. Even if you didn’t like Guards Guards I recommend looking at some of the other series within the Discworld universe (the Witches books are really good!) because they all kind of have different vibes depending on the story
I know I probably wouldn't have a good time with it, but I love that artwork on The Last Bloodcarver. Goddess of the River and Kushiel's Dart are excellent, hope you enjoy them! Whichever one of your patrons recommended KD knows what's up.
I will say Kushiel's Dart is a book that sincerely grossed me out. I don't understand why it doesn't have more criticism, so I'm curious what you think of it...
Kushiel’s Dart surprised me, interesting premise and a very intriguing main character. I really enjoyed it and I’m looking forward to seeing what you think.
There is a book titled Our Wives Under the Sea.... I find it hilarious that her user name is a play on a book title and she's bashing titles of other books... Let people do what they want, just don't read the book if you don't like it. Actually, I'm not even really digging the subject of this video, like just let people do their thing, just because you don't like something doesn't mean that no-one should be allowed to like it...
I was also disappointed with a curse for true love. I'd absolutely loved that series up until that point, even if it was absolutely ridiculous at times, I could not get enough of Eva and jacks. And then iw as dying for a year, waiting for the third book to come out, only to be presented with...whatever that was. Like it wasn't terrible. I'd still give it like 4⭐️ but the first two I gave 5⭐️. ACFTL just felt so rushed, apollos pov was so unnecessary, I would have preferred more of jacks and Eva. I thought we were going to get MORE jacks and Eva in this book then we might have in others, but instead we got the least out if any of the books! And yeah, I didn't really like how the amnesia trope was done. Also, they FINALLY get together, they FINALLY kiss, and we ONLY GET ONE KISS? THATS IT? after all that waiting, they kiss and then THE END? What? No? I felt like all of the angst and tesion and yearning from the first two books was gone. 😭 So disappointed with it.
So far pretty good year.... The Heroes and Lies of Locke Lamora both very good as expected. Godkiller I was leery of as it was a "booktube darling" but I enjoyed it too. Dragon Republic and Argent to the Stars were ok-ish. Then out of nowhere Empress of Forever and All the Seas of the World were absolutely spectacular and I recommend them to anyone who will listen. Age of Madness triology I picked up last week and is on the shelf just waiting.
Have you read the Caraval trilogy? I feel like everyone who talks about Once Upon a Broken Heart has read it or never even mentions it, which came first. Personally I really liked it and though I haven’t read the spin off trilogy yet, I think it’s less confusing and all over the place like a lot of people have been saying about the spin off. Definitely whimsical and fairy tale-esque but definitely worth the read imo
I was interested in botanical daughter. I think it’s still sitting in my shopping cart. Try Mort by terry pratchett next I really think you’ll like it. Especially in between other series
After finishing Rise of the Ranger, I just wanted more Asher so I immediately started Court of Assassins. It was so good! Will definitely be reading the next two in the prequel series.
Am I the only one who thinks of a retelling as being from the perspective of the same character, but reworked somehow, like brought forward into the modern era or such? But, if it's revisited from a different perspective than the original was ever told from, I think of that more as a reimagination or something instead?? 🤔😅😅🫣🙃👀🤭🤷🤷♀️🤷🏻♂️ idekk, maybe that's just me, being weird!!😊 Lollll
I read Howl's Moving Castle back in middle school over 20 years ago now, and disliked the movie for its changes. Just listened to the audiobook for the first time since then, and I feel justified in that opinion. I understand how most people prefer the movie and most people in fact don't even realize it's based on a book, but the tone in the book for me is so vastly different to the tone of the movie that they seem like completely different stories with the movie just usurping the characters.
