Hi friends! My name is Samantha and I am a 26 year old born and raised Virginian. I enjoy crafting, sewing, organization and baking. Indoor activities are for me! When it comes to food I am “Plain Jane” and water is my favorite drink (except Strawberry Daquiris).
I am the sole owner of Tansley Paper Co which is my Etsy run business. The shops's specialization is in paper crafts but has recently started expanding into fabrics.
Some youtubers who inspire me are Jennifer McGuire, Blair Lamb, Kristie Marcotte, and Jordan Page.
Lovely video tutorial. I feel your exultation and agony in the threading of the serger. Hope to make some of this for home use once I conquer my threading the serger issue. (My machine is from the other millennium. Yup.
I had a yard sale a few years ago and set out some craft stuff I had made. I used a separate table for the crafts and was surprised to find people actually liked seeing some things other than "yard sale" things. Know a lady who sets up a craft table each year at the park's "Junk in Your Trunk" sale. She said her sales were better than some craft fairs she does. Anytime you have an opportunity to sell and showcase what we make is good for business. Enjoyed the video and the advice.
Congrats on the payment. Yes i like to hear what other make on RU-vid especially small RU-vid like us. I have stopped making videos because it is a lot of work for little money. If you can add affiliate link it will helps bring some extra money. Share affiliate link of things that you use and recommends. This helps bring me a bit of extra fund with my RU-vid Adsense. I have completely stop filming this year due to personal reason but I am wanting to come back maybe next year.
This is just a question. How do you get away with selling licensed print fabric. I heard they are cracking down on these kinds of sales. Honestly curious because I made a lot but now afraid to sell them.
Great question! I was willing to do it for this single day show and no other. Every single other vendor there was also breaking trademark laws (25 vendors total). So I figured if they were going to arrest or fine us then we all go down as a group! I will never be selling these items again
They come from an Etsy shop located in France! Video linked below Custom Fabric Product Labels | Small Business Branding, Etsy Shop | XL Table Runners ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_fv0LklIt6w.html
You almost glow when you start talking numbers and statistics. I can tell you really like this part of the business. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts about the themed show. Do you think it's better to have themed items rather than a wide variety for a show? And you have quite a list of your upcoming shows to keep you busy. Too bad for me I'm not in your area or I would stop by to say hello in person. P.S. Before you make your list for next years videos, ask your followers for some suggestions. I have a few things I'd enjoy a video about.
Interesting! I have made thousands of jar openers with at least 5 back tacks on each one using a walking foot and I’ve never had a problem. Maybe it depends on your machine and/or walking foot? I am using a brother machine and brother foot
@@samanthatansley I always just jump in head first when sewing. If it comes out bad, then I know how to adjust for the next time. LOL. I have been collecting supplies to make my daughter a snow white dress for a year now. This one I am actually nervous about, because I want it to be great.
@stacyanthony7148 lol! I love that approach, learn by trial and error. The Snow White dress sounds amazing! I hope it turns out just how you imagine it will 😊

You do nice work! I can tell you were efficient. I'm impressed how fast you were able to do all the turning, etc. Love the key fobs. Do you find scrunchies sell well?
Thank you so much! I am all about efficiency 😊 (it also helps when you’ve made the product hundreds of times before) The scrunchies are a horrible product to try to sell. This is because there are other sewists at shows selling them for $2 each or 3 for $10. In my opinion, they should be over $8 each. They are a simple project but a pain to make, especially the elastic. I am not selling the scrunchies this weekend. Check out my video below to find out what I plan to do with them! Thank you for your support! You can use 1/8-1/2 seam allowance as long as you stay consistent throughout the project. I typically use a 1/4 when sewing jar openers!
It says you might need to do a couple of sheets. The dirt is iron because when I do another method use a cream and rag I get same results. Also when I use cream I can get into steam holes. The age of iron gives different results because older irons had different elements used to make surface so shinny iron bottoms may not have been common etc.
So funny, you have so many different patterns and someone asks for the one thing you don't have....roosters. I hate when that happens. I really like the christmas block fabric and so much of it. I occasionally find fabric at my thrift stores. Most around here don't carry any which is why I am always so jealous when I see your thrift hauls. When you make the panels show us the results when if you don't get a chance to turn it into a video.
That will be a huge profit margin when you sell it all. You're good at getting it all done so I have no doubt you'll meet your deadline. I think it's always good to have little freebies to give away. Even a little gift to the organizer, assuming you like the show, may go along way for you next year. But get all the for profit stuff done first. Now about your scraps. If you have the energy to sew them all together, go for it. Scrappy patchwork bags are trendy and look really cute. Show us what you end up making with them. I know you never throw anything away.😀
Congrats! I hope you like it 😊 Translation for those wondering… @Maryjean8888 • 10 minutes ago I'm happy today I bought my first sewing machine; it's this model... it's not sewn but I want to learn...
Cut your scraps up into maybe a little smaller pieces. Get some batting cut into whatever size. Spray your batting with 505 spray place your scrapes on the batting and quilt it, using whatever method you choice( or you can put organza fabric over top of the scrapes). Make a backing pieces the same way, cut some lining pieces , get a zipper and make some scrappy zipper bags. They would be cute.
