I saw Neil here (Pine Knob) twice, in the early 80's. He was skinny then. One show was when he was on his "country music" kick, and he had this older dude playing fiddle on almost every song. The encore was "oldies" lead guitar stuff. The 2nd time, maybe 5 years later, he was back to all Rock-n-Roll stuff. The audiences were quite different. The Rock show had alot of tattooed, Biker leather dudes, the "country" show had alot more "Country girls", and dudes with beards.
@@Music-Mystic333 I'll say more. At the "country" show, the audience was being "entertained". The songs were new, or new-ish, he pulled out some non-radio airplay "folksie/country" songs from his past catalog and blended them in. It was a canned setlist type program, like Austin City Limits. Lovely musicianship, well crafted songs, the audience was smiling, but people were talking to each other the whole time, like they were listening to the radio at a party. The Rock show was very different. There was no audience chatter. When he took his soaring, epileptic-style guitar leads, the audience was 100% mezmerized, hypnotized like a group psychedelic experience. People weren't being "entertained", they were being transported, like they were sharing some sort of religious experience, and when each extended tune ended, there was an eruption of crowd satisfaction. People went home with ringing ears and hoarse voices from cheering their lungs out. I've seen him several other times around the country on solo tours, great performances, playing old hits alone on stage and the audience loved it, but those electric rock shows back in the day, were a whole different level of experience.
What an amazing f&cking show! I was brought to tears so many times watching this omg I love them so freaking much! RUN THRU are you kidding me, just WOW!
Most metal is straight garbage, sooo.... lol. The important thing is those who knew Smokey Robinson & The Miracles "Ohh Baby Baby" in the first few seconds.
