Nim Tao Wing Chun is a kung fu school based in Beacon Hill, Sydney. Classes are run like a gym where you can stay for as long or little as you like. Most students get private lessons and use the general class times to practice what they learn in their private lessons. Wing Chun Kung Fu is an internal martial art based on learning how to mobilize your body mass for power. In other words, you don’t need to have big muscles for Wing Chun to work. And because Wing Chun is based on relaxation, you will experience great health benefits.

Instructor Maksem has over 30 years of martial arts experience and a diploma in remedial massage. Learning with Nim Tao Wing Chun is not only fun and insightful, it will help you improve your health, posture and well-being.

i hate the number 66, so i just had to add one more comment. here it is; in the 17th century, there was no modern convenience...hard work was the norm. so many were stronger fitter healthier than most people today. but the last 100 years folks have grown feebler in need of exercise...so why not learn Wing Chun. Look, you practiced Nim Lik as a child, you called it playing with all of your might. So start slow and easy and work your way up again...good luck. comment number 67 2024

Man. I really enjoy watching watching this form performed in the same way my sifu taught us. And his taught him. The sh#* you will get from those who’ve learnt a different version or who have made up there own would cause me to remove it from RU-vid. Be brave my brother. Good positioning . Pity your dummy doesn’t offer much resistance. My favourite dummy is still in use in Adelaide at another school . It was about 16 inch diameter and as heavy as a small car 😂. But it taught me to use my structure and not my arms. Keep up the training 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️. I need to secure my current one to a wall to stop it from moving so much.

Lol yeah there are many keyboard warriors in youtube, there always will be. As long as you can demonstrate to them in person when they come into the school, they tend to join after feeling it. I had to dynabolt this dummy into the concrete because the whole thing would lift off the ground. Now it just bounces a lot, and feels a lot like a person bouncing off during force generation or chi sau. Thanks for the kind words. Cheers 🍻

Pretty cool! Thanks for sharing the video. I think the potential of the concepts and applications are often misunderstood. I wonder what the potentials would be when combined with BJJ and Roman Greco wrestling.
@NimTaoWingChun
@NimTaoWingChun Год назад
Thanks for your comment. CST's method is applicable to all human movement. This means if you are doing BJJ or wrestling or tennis or football, if you can move your body with minimal muscular effort and expanded joints, you will be able to perform whatever you are doing at a much more efficient and higher level. Moving in the CST way will improve the quality of anything you do. Cheers!

That’s a great photo of Sigung Chu Shong Tin . This photo was taken in the mid 1980’s at a martial arts exhibition in Adelaide.South Australia. He was admired by exponents of many different styles from all over Asia over the course of the event . A photographer attempting to take photos of Sigung Chu in the green room asked me to assist with asking for the pole to be held in a particular manner. Every time Sigung posed for the shot , he held the pole pointed directly at the lense. All the photographer could see was the small circular end of the pole and sigungs body to one side of the shape. Funny memory worth sharing.

Bong sau/high fuk sau are used for blocking straight punches/hooks. I have seen from some slow motion boxing matches that Pacquiao used some kind of high fuk sau to block hooks. This way your opponent's hook will hit your elbow and you can protect your head.

chi = air, air flow, it could also mean gas, breath (when you breathe in, your lung is filled with "chi" (air), when you breathe out, you breathe out "chi" (air). I guess it is like when you breathe, your belly expends. Similarly, when Master Chu put air into his forearm, that part of forearm started expanding (felt like expanding) so people could not grab him anymore

For those of U who've studied yoga or know about chakras, did U just realize Chu Shong Tin is describing the activation of the Kundalini chakra and raising that Kundalini energy up the spine to reach the Crown chakra thru the practice of Sil Nim Tao?!! OMG !!
@maximuslaurie5139
@maximuslaurie5139 3 года назад
Well no doubt the fun part of it sounds similar. but yoga people don't have the same skills he does. I would say some of yoga is efficient to get power tho. Its kinda like being amazed at what a coincidence it is that two unrelated people have the same type of heart. If the whole spine thing is a real phenomena then we should expect it to be present in successful athletes from all over. In yoga we don't have positions like a push up, instead there's downward dog. And this conforms to the idea of balance, and strong structure versus just letting your muscles take it all and getting so sore. you can just do the yoga longer, and get strong and efficient. that's the same as our stance, easier but better.

Ok Tsui Sheung Tin is for real and one of the best students coming from IP Man`s school/ And it works against a stronger force I believe it to be complete in its thinking too as I trained at his club on and off for some time. It takes quite a long time to work on the inner method and my background is from a more dynamic practical way of Victor Kan another talented student and one of the best. At first it felt very conflicting the two different approaches even after may years of practice as it`s hard to change the way you learn from the beginning/ But eventually before seeing Tsui Sheung Tin for the last time I realized the benefit of learning the soft and the hard way. Our Kung Fu changes with experience and age and now enjoy the benefit of the softer side. Which I believe is more of an efficient method. My former teacher called it old man`s Ving Tsun haha!

I see your tan sau is flat, even after CST's adjustment. So for you guys, that 45 degree angle is not a criteria for a tan sau to be a tan sau?
@NimTaoWingChun
@NimTaoWingChun 4 года назад
In the beginning it is important to get the shape as correct as possible, but once you are more advanced positioning is less important. At high levels position doesn't matter at all. In this demo Sigung was helping me relax enough so I could get the right feeling. What stuck with me from this experience was the feeling - which is, lightness and effortlessness. The guy holding me (Sam) at first felt like he was very heavy and you see me using effort to move him (ineffectively). After Sigung's adjustment Sam no longer felt heavy - he literally felt like he weighed as much as a tennis ball. Because he felt so light I felt like I could have thrown him out the window. You can't see in the video but he went flying all the way back to the wall after Sigung adjusted me. Very cool feeling I remember. Thanks for your comment :)
